By Sachin Awasthi|Updated : December 7th, 2021

CET (Common Eligibility Test) for SSC & Railway Exams 2022: The government has taken a big move to change the recruitment process for the Central Government jobs. Aspirants seeking government jobs will soon no longer have to apply for different competitive job exams in order to obtain the job of their dreams. In the current scenario, you have sat separately for SSC, Railway & Banking exams but with the introduction of CET, candidates have to give only a single preliminary examination for the exams conducted by these agencies. The government is pressing forward with the formation of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA), which will administer the CET (common admission test). The CET would replace many exams administered by various employment channels such as IBPS, RRB, and SSC.

The NRA would be led by a Chairman who will hold the rank of Secretary to the Government of India. Representatives from the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Finance/Department of Financial Services, the SSC, RRB, and IBPS will be present.

What is the NRA CET or Common Eligibility Test?

CET is the Common Eligibility Test that is a generalized preliminary test for the employment procedure in all the non-gazetted (Group B & C) posts. The purpose of introducing CET is to make the process of recruitment easier and more transparent. As per the present examination protocol, aspirants need to fill different forms for different exams and need to travel to different places as well. Under CET, the government is trying to save the energy, enthusiasm, money and valuable time of the aspirants.

Exams To Be Conducted Under CET

As we all know, there are some commissions or boards that conduct these kinds of multi-level entrance exams for recruitment in various posts of the central government. The CET will eliminate the preliminary levels of the examinations conducted by:

  • Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

  • Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)

  • Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS)

This information will definitely bring a smile on the faces of the candidates who belong to the rural areas of the country. According to the latest notice, there will be one or more than one CET Exam centre in a district depending upon the strength of the candidates appearing for the exam. This will reduce a lot of burden for the economically poor students who cannot always afford to travel long distances to take the examinations.
