XAT Exam 2024 notification has been released today on 11th July 2023 by XLRI XLRI conducts the XAT entrance exam every year to initiate the MBA admission process at XLRI Jamshedpur and other XAMI member institutes. Following the trends, XAT 2024 will be held on the 7th of January 2024. So, the candidates who wish to study MBA at XLRI must start their preparation now to appear for the upcoming XAT Exam 2024.

The exam conducting authority made little changes in the XAT Exam pattern in the year 2023. In 2023, a new section, the Mock Keyboard Testing was included in part B, while GK and Essay Writing was moved to part C of the XAT Exam. A total of 105 questions were asked and the duration was increased from 190 minutes to 210 minutes in the 2023 exam. XAT 2024 will allow all the candidates who are aspiring to study MBA in BM and HRM at XLRI. Below we have mentioned all the relevant information that the candidates should know before applying for the upcoming XAT Exam 2024.

XAT 2024

Every year, XAT Exam is conducted by XLRI in the month of January (First Sunday, tentatively) to start the admission process in XLRI and other XAMI member institutes in India. Like every year, the XAT authorities have published the notification on its official website: https://xlri.ac.in. Candidates will get the direct link to fill out the XAT 2024 application form on the official website from 15th July 2023 to 30th November 2023. What is XAT Exam?

Xavier Aptitude Test XAT is a national-level MBA exam for admission to different MBA/PGDM courses. It is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur annually on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). The aspirants aiming at XAT Exam 2024 will get an opportunity to study in the Top MBA Colleges in India, including XLRI, XIMB, IMT Ghaziabad, SP Jain, TAPMI, KJ Somaiya, etc. Additionally, 150+ other academic institutes also accept XAT Exam scores for their management programs.

Considering last year's trends, XAT 2024 will have 3 parts. Part 1, consists of Verbal Ability and & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation (175 minutes). Part 2 consists of Mock Keyboard Testing (5 minutes) and Part 3 will consist of GK and Essay writing section (30 minutes) The Essay writing will be evaluated if the candidate is shortlisted for an interview. The marking scheme for the XAT Exam is a little different than the other MBA exams. The marking scheme of XAT 2024 is given below::

  • 0.25 marks for an incorrect answer
  • - 0.10 marks for more than 8 un-attempted consecutive questions
  • No negative marking in the GK section of XAT 2024

The total time for completing the XAT Exam has been increased from 190 minutes to 210 minutes last year. XAT 2024 exam will be conducted from 2 PM - 5:30 PM instead of 9.30 AM - 12:40 PM. XAT Exam Latest Changes

As per the latest update, 5 new exam centres have been added to the list of exam cities by the exam conducting authority, including Jorhat, Shillong, Tejpur, Rajkot, and Naharlagun. Additionally, XLRI has made slight changes to the XAT Exam pattern in the year 2023

  • 5 minute Mock Keyboard testing round was included in Part 2, whereas GK and Essay writing sections are included in Part 3 of the Exam
  • In the essay writing section of the XAT Exam, candidates need to choose 1 essay topic out of 3 and have to write a 300-word short essay.
  • Except for the essay section; the other questions will be in MCQ format. A total of 105 questions will be asked in the upcoming XAT Exam.
  • The number of questions in DM - Increased to 22 from 21 questions.
  • The total XAT exam duration was also increased to 210 minutes:
    • Part 1: 175 Minutes
    • Part 2: 5 Minutes
    • Part 3: 30 Minutes

XAT Exam Selection Process

After the declaration of the result, the selection process for XAT 2024 will begin. The candidates must note one thing XLRI does not conduct any centralized selection process.   • XAT 2024 selection process will include GD and PI Rounds. The candidates who will clear cut off of the XAT Exam can expect a call from their desired Institute.

XAT Registration 2024

XLRI Jamshedpur will start the registration process for the XAT exam from 15th July 2023 onwards.The XAT 2024 Registration will end on 30th November 2023.. XAT Exam Fees

The candidates must pay the registration fee for the XAT 2024 Exam after filling out the application form. Without paying the application fees, the registration process will remain incomplete. As per the latest details, the XAT registration fee is mentioned below.

  • Registration fee XAT Exam (without late fee) – Rs. 2000./-
  • Candidates interested in XLRI Programmes need to pay an additional fee of Rs. 200/- for each program.
  • Fee for NRI/Foreign Candidates applying for one or more programs through GMAT– Rs. 5000/-.

Who is Eligible for XAT Exam 2024?

The candidates aiming for XAT 2024 must check the eligibility details carefully before applying for the exam. The basic eligibility requirement is graduation in any stream from a recognised university. The detailed eligibility includes educational qualification, age limit, and nationality. Nationality to Appear in XAT 2024

Both Indian and overseas students can apply for XAT Exam. Additionally, the NRI candidates are also eligible for this exam, as per the official notification prescribed by XLRI.

XAT Exam Educational Qualification

The candidates who have completed their graduation from a recognised university are eligible to apply for XAT 2024. However, there are no minimum marks required for XAT Exam online apply process. The final-year students are also eligible to apply, but they have to submit proof of their education within a certain time, as specified by the respective institutes during GDPI round.

XAT Age Limit

There is no upper limit for XAT Exam. If the candidates fulfil the basic eligibility criteria, then they can apply for this exam, as many times as they want.

XAT Exam Pattern 2024

The exam conducting authority has made a few changes in the XAT Paper Pattern 2023, by introducing a new exam process in Part B, namely, 'Mock Keyboard Testing'; while GK and Essay writing rounds have been moved to Part C of the XAT Exam. A total of 105 questions were asked, instead of 101, and the exam duration was also increased to 210 minutes in total.

  • Part 1: There will be 3 sections: Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, and QA& DI (175 minutes).
  • Part 2: Mock Keyboard testing round (total 5 minutes)
  • In part 3 of the XAT Exam, The questions will be asked from GK and Essay Writing (30 minutes).

XAT Exam Score Calculator

The candidates' XAT score is calculated on the basis of raw scores obtained in each exam section.

  • -0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer
  • +1 is awarded for every correct answer in XAT Exam 2024.
  • For unanswered questions, there is no mark deduction. But, if you skip 8 consecutive questions, -0.10 marks will be deducted.
  • Marks obtained by the candidates will then be listed are added to get a raw score of the candidate
  • After that, you will get your rank according to the total marks obtained in XAT Exam 2024.

After clearing this exam, you have to go through the GD-PI Round. If you clear this section process, only then you can take admission to various MBA Programmes in XLRI Jamshedpur.

  • No, XAT and GMAT are completely different. XAT Score is accepted in India while GMAT is an internationally accepted exam. Additionally, there is an Analytical Writing part in GMAT which is missing in the case of XAT.

  • No. You can not apply for XAT Exam. Candidates who are in their final year or have completed their graduation studies can apply for XAT 2024 if they fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements. It is an entrance exam for postgraduate management courses.

  • Yes, the candidates will be given access to an on-screen calculator during XAT Exam 2024. You will also be given paper sheets for rough work and calculations. The candidates can use either of the two for calculation mode in the exam.

  • It is always recommended to start preparing for XAT Exam as early as possible. The perfect preparation time for the XAT is 6-9 months. You can make your own exam preparation plan according to your strengths and weaknesses.

  • The XAT Exam score is used by XLRI and other XAMI member institutes to shortlist the candidates for MBA admission. If you clear XAT cutoffs, you will get the opportunity to attend the GD PI rounds for MBA and PGDM admission in XLRI.
