IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria

IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria is very important for the aspiring candidates. IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria tells you different conditions that are needed to be kept in mind before applying for IBPS SO. The criteria are mandatory to be met by the candidates.

Candidates failing to meet the required IBPS SO eligibility criteria will be disqualified without any further consideration. Hence, to save the opportunity and make most of it, take a careful look at the IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria.

Candidates who are willing to apply must fulfil the below-mentioned criteria. Check IBPS SO Exam 2020 eligibility conditions.

IBPS SO Nationality Criteria

  • Candidate should have a citizenship of India.
  • Candidate subjected to Bhutan
  • Candidate subjected to Nepal
  • A person from Tibet, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East Africa, Burma, Kenya, Uganda who came to India for permanent residence before 1 January 1962 along with a certificate given by the Government of India for eligibility.

IBPS SO 2020: Age Limit Criteria (as on 1st November 2020)

Candidates must be minimum 20 years or maximum 30 years of age as on 1st November 2020.

  • It implies that the candidate should not have born before 2nd November 1990 and not after 1st November 2000, where both dates are inclusive
  • IBPS has also mentioned some age relaxation for various categories.

Relaxation for Upper Age Limit

IBPS SO age limit is important to be known. Candidates need to follow the age limit criteria strictly. No relaxation other than the table given below will be provided to any candidate for any reason.

  • The maximum age limit specified in (II) above is applicable to General Category candidates.
  • The relaxation in upper age limit to SC/ST/OBC candidates is allowed on a cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above in Point No. IV (3) to IV (6).
  • Candidates seeking age relaxation will be required to submit the necessary certificate(s) in original/copies at the time of Interview and at any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS/ Participating Organisation(s).
  • An Ex-Servicemen who has once joined a Government job on civil side after availing of the benefits given to him/her as an Ex-Servicemen for his/her re-employment, his/her Ex-Servicemen status for the purpose of the re-employment in Government jobs ceases.
  • There is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in Officers’ Cadre.

IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification (as on 23rd November 2020)

IBPS SO consists of different posts. Different posts have different eligibility criteria. The details are given below:

1. Agricultural Field Officer

Graduation degree or 4 year Degree in the following courses:

  • Food technology
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Agro-Forestry
  • Food Science
  • Horticulture
  • Animal Husbandry
  • Pisciculture 
  • Fishery Science
  • Dairy Technology
  • Co-operation & Banking
  • Veterinary Science
  • Agricultural Biotechnology
  • Agri. Marketing & Co.
  • Forestry
  • Sericulture

2. Law officer

Qualified in LLB or Bachelor’s in Law and enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council.

3. Marketing Officer

Candidate should be a graduate song with one of the following:

  • 2 years of full-time PGDBA /PGDBM/ PGPM/ PGDM with marketing as a specialized subject
  • 2 years of full-time MMS (Marketing)
  • 2 years of full-time MBA in Marketing

4. I.T Officer

  • 4 years degree in engineering & technology, or
  • Post Graduation in CS/CA/IT/EE/EC// Electronics & Telecommunications/ Electronics & Instrumentation, or
  • Graduate having passed DOEACC ‘B’ level
  • Candidate should have passed DOEACC ‘B’ level along with graduation

5. Rahbhasha Adhikari

  • Post Graduation Degree in Sanskrit with English & Hindi as core subjects, or
  • Post Graduation Degree in Hindi with English as a core subject.

6. HR/Personnel Officer

  • Graduate along with 2 Years Full-time Post Graduation degree, or
  •  2 Years Full-time Post Graduation Diploma in Personnel Management/HR/HRD/ Industrial Relations/ Social Work /Labour Law.


  • '*' In case of dual specialisations, one of the fields of specialisation should be in the field prescribed. In the case of major/ minor specialisations, major specialisation should be in the stream prescribed. Candidates having PG Degree (MMS or MBA)/PG Diploma with more than two specialisations are not eligible to apply.
  • '**' Candidates should ensure that the educational qualification possessed by them shall be as per the prescribed educational qualifications mentioned in the advertisement and they fulfil the above eligibility criteria. No equivalent educational qualification shall be considered as eligible by IBPS or Participating Organisations. 
  • For posts other than IT Officer Scale I: Candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/ Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/ College/ Institute.

IBPS SO 2019: Percentage Calculation and Requirement

  • The notification of IBPS SO 2020 does not mention any minimum percentage requirement for any particular post, in order to apply online for this exam. 
  • Calculation of Percentage for IBPS SO 2020:
    (a) The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks (in all the subjects irrespective of honours / optional/additional optional subject, if any) multiplied by 100.
    (b) This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only.
    (c) The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.
