What is SSC Steno?

SSC Stenographer is a national-level Competitive Entrance Exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for the recruitment of Grade C and Grade D jobs. SSC invites candidates for the recruitment of Stenographer Grade C & D in a General Central Service Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ Non-Gazetted post in various Central Government Ministries/Departments, in different States & Union Territories.

How to Apply SSC Stenographer Application Form 2020-2021?

  • Visit the official website
  • Go to the Registration link and click on it.
  • Now fill the One Time Registration (OTR) form.
  • Enter your valid details as personal & professional in the form.
  • Upload your scanned photo, signature & required certificate during the process.
  • Once the registration is successfully done, you will be shared registration ID and password on registered mobile number and email-id.
  • The registered members will then be able to sign in on the official website.
  • Now go to the 2020-2021 recruitment official notification and fill the application form.
  • Enter your verified details (As per certificate/documents) for form registration.
  • Attach scanned photo and signature.
  • Check all the fields in the application form to proceed.
  • Submit the Application Form.
  • Save it and get a print out for future reference.

The SSC Stenographer application fee for all the categories is stated below. Candidates filling up the SSC Stenographer application form are required to submit the application fee in order to complete their application form.  If the fee is not received by SSC, such applications which remain incomplete and will be summarily rejected and no request for consideration of such applications shall be entertained.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria

Before applying SSC Stenographers exam for Grade C & D candidates should check the following SSC Stenographer eligibility criteria as stated by the officials of SSC. Candidates failing to fulfil the SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process:

1. Age Limit: For Grade C, the age should be between 18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2020. For Grade D, the required age is 18 to 27 years. The Date of Birth will be considered as per High-school or equivalent documents. Reserved categories will get age relaxation benefits according to the Government’s Rule & Regulations.

However, there are some age relaxation norms introduced by the officials of SSC under SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria which are as follows:

2. Educational Qualification: A candidate must have passed 10+2 (12th) exam/HSC or its equivalent degree from a recognized University or Board as on 01.08.2020. Also, the candidates those who are declared qualified in the Computer Based Examination and the Skill Test will be required to produce all the relevant certificates in original such as Marksheets, Provisional Certificates etc. for completion of 12th standard or equivalent examination as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before 01.08.2020. The candidature of the candidates those who fail to produce the documents will be cancelled by
the Commission.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process

SSC Stenographer exam is based on the following 2 stages:

  1. Computer Based Test and
  2. Skill Test
  • The older age candidates get benefits in the selection procedure if they have equal marks.
  • There is a time duration of 2 hours for general category candidates while visually handicapped candidates have a time duration of 2 Hours & 40 Minutes.
  • Candidates who have fulfilled the cut-off marks criteria will be eligible for the stenographer skill test.
  • The skill test required a typing speed of 80 WPM in Hindi and 100 WPM in English.
  • There is no interview involved in the selection process.

SSC Stenographer Salary & Job Profile

  • The salary structure of SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ is Pay Scale- Rs. 9300-34800, Grade Pay - 4200/- (Pay Band 2)
  • The salary structure of SSC Stenographer Grade ‘D’ is Pay Scale- Rs. 5200-20200, Grade Pay - 2400/- (Pay Band 1)
