Term

Explanation/ Meaning

Pay Scale

The pay scale is a system that determines the salary or wages of an employee. There are certain factors on which pay scale depends.

The level of employment in terms of responsibilities, seniority, rank or status, the difficulty of the specific work performed. Depending upon these factors the pay scale of an employee is decided by an employer.

Basic Pay 

The basic pay is the sum of the initial pay of the employee and Grade pay. This factor of income varies from one job profile to other job profile.

This is an important factor as all further calculations are done on the basis of this factor.

HRA

House Rent Allowances is the reimbursement for employees which is given to ease the stay at the place of posting.

If an employee avails the facility of the house on lease or leased flats from the employer then that employee can not avail himself/ herself this allowance (HRA).

CGEGIS

Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme (CGEGIS) came into force on 1st January 1982. The scheme provides for the two-fold benefit,

first one is insurance cover to help their families and the second one is lump-sum payment to augment their resources on retirement.

All the employees who had entered Central Government Service after 1st November 1980 will be compulsorily covered under the scheme from the date it came into force,

i.e. from 1st January 1982.

CGHS

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) was started under the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 1954 with the objective of providing comprehensive medical care facilities to Central Government employees, pensioners and their dependents residing in CGHS covered cities.

  • The total in-hand salary of PA and SA selected through SSC CHSL 2021 Exam varies from city to city. In X city the selected candidate gets 36,555 Rs while in Y and Z city, he/ she gets Rs 32,715 and Rs 30,675, respectively.

  • A DEO draws Rs 36,555 salary in X City while Rs 32,715 and Rs 30,675 in Y and Z City, respectively. 

  • A DEO gets promoted to the DEO Grade B, Grade C and Grade F once he/ she clears the departmental exam. 

  • A government employee selected through SSC CHSL Exam gets Dearness Allowance (DA) of 17 per cent of Basic salary.

  • The Grade Pay of a Lower Division Clerk is 1900.

  • A Junior Secretariat Assistant gets a Gross Salary of around Rs 31,659 per month.

  • As per the government norms, HRA is classified into three different categories which are X City, Y City and Z City. X cities are categorised with a population of more than 50 lakhs whereas Y cities are classified under cities with a population within 5 to 50 lakhs and Z cities are considered cities with population less than 5 lakhs. 

  • A SSC CHSL selected candidate gets Rs 3,600 as Travel Allowance while posted in X City. When the candidate is posted in Y or Z City, he/ she gets 1,800 as Travel Allowance.

  • Yes, according to the latest notification, there is a salary hike of 22 to 24 per cent in the SSC CHSL salary structure after the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission.

  • As per the government norms, a candidate gets 24 per cent of Basic pay when he/ she is posted in X cities. For Y and Z cities, he/ she gets 16 per cent and 8 per cent of Basic Pay, respectively.
