HTET 2023 Exam

Candidates must pass HTET 2023 exam to become eligible for appearing in the Primary, TGT and PGT teacher recruitment exams. The exam is conducted in offline mode wherein 150 questions are asked for 150 marks. What is HTET?

Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) is a teacher eligibility test administered by BSEH. The exam is divided into three levels: Primary Teacher (PRT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT). The primary teacher exam is conducted to recruit teachers for Classes 1 to 5, the TGT exam is held to employ teachers for Classes 6 to 8 and the PGT exam is organized for the recruitment of teachers for Classes 9 to 12. HTET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must first go through the HTET eligibility criteria to examine if they are eligible to apply for the exam or not. Only eligible candidates can fill the application form as the applications of ineligible candidates will not be accepted. Changes in Eligibility Criteria

The CTET criteria for Haryana government schools have been revised. Candidates with CTET certificates are no longer eligible to apply for government schools in Haryana. It is necessary to apply for the HTET exam in order to obtain a valid certificate to work as a teacher in government schools.

HTET Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teacher (Level 1)

The following are the eligibility criteria for HTET Level 1:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2007, notified on 31 August 2009 OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations,  2002 OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or Senior Secondary/ Graduation/ Post Graduation with Hindi as one of the subjects.

HTET Qualification for TGT (Level 2)

The following are the HTET Level 2 eligibility criteria. Candidates preparing for the TGT exam must check the minimum qualification required. 

  • Graduation in the relevant discipline and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR
  • Graduation in relevant discipline with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) OR
  • Graduation in a relevant discipline with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
  • Graduation in relevant discipline with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

HTET Eligibility Criteria for PGT (Level 3)

Aspirants preparing for the HTET PGT exam can check the minimum educational qualification required. The following are the eligibility criteria for HTET Level 3:

  • Post Graduate degree in the subject with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
  • Passed Bachelor of Education from a recognized university.
  • Matrics with Hindi & Sanskrit or Sr. Secondary/ Graduation/ Post Graduation in Hindi as subjects.
  • Consistent good academic record.

HTET Age Limit

Candidates must fulfil the criteria for the HTET age limit in order to submit the application form. The minimum age limit and maximum age limit to apply for the exam are 18 years and 38 years respectively. Any candidates not fulfilling the HTET age limit criteria are not eligible for the exam.

Is CTET Acceptable in Haryana?

According to the most recent notification issued by the Haryana Government, the CTET Certificate is not valid for Teacher Recruitment in Haryana. In 2021, the Government of Haryana declared that the CTET Certificate would be equivalent to the HTET Certificate. But now the decision has been withdrawn and CTET qualified candidates are not eligible to participate in the Government Teacher vacancies in Haryana. Candidates who want to apply for a teacher job in Haryana must possess an HTET Certificate.

HTET Admit Card 2023

HTET admit card will be issued to the eligible candidates a few before the exam date. Candidates will be able to download their admit card by using their login credetials. HTET Certificate Validity

Qualified candidates will be issued an HTET Certificate. Previously, the HTET exam certificate was valid for 7 years. The Ministry of Education extended the validity of the certificate of HTET from 7 years to lifetime, with effect from 2011. However, the HTET Certificate Validity has now been reduced to 7 years.

The certificate validity will be determined from the date of issuance. There is no limit to the number of times a person can attempt the HTET exam to obtain a valid certificate. If the result is declared late or revised, the validity of the certificate will be calculated from the date of the declaration of the result.

HTET Qualifying Marks

BSEH decides the minimum HTET qualifying marks that each candidate must score in order to obtain the certificate. Candidates who fail to secure qualifying marks will not be awarded the HTET certificate. The minimum qualifying marks for each category are as follows:
