RBI Grade B Salary 2023

RBI Grade B is one of the most prestigious jobs in the public sector in India. More than 1 lakh candidates compete annually for around 300 posts in a three-stage RBI Grade B selection process. RBI is very liberal in paying perks and emoluments for even the smallest of expenses.

RBI Grade B Salary Structure

RBI Grade B salary for selected candidates is INR 55,200/-p.m. as a beginning basic pay in the pay range INR 55,200-2850(9)-80,850-EB-2850(2)-86,550-3300(4)-99,750 (16 years).

  • According to the rules in effect at the time, the candidates will also be eligible for Dearness Allowance, Local Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family Allowance, and Grade Allowance.
  • Initial monthly gross emoluments are INR 1,16,914/- at the moment (approx). The House Allowance of 15% of Basic Pay will be paid if accommodation is not provided by the Bank.

RBI Grade B Salary After 5 Years

  • RBI Grade B increment amount is ₹ 1750/- (up to 9 years).
  • After the completion of 9 years, the basic RBI Grade B Salary becomes ₹ 50,900/- and they receive an increment of ₹ 1750/- (for the next 2 years)
  • Further increment after 2 years will be of ₹ 2000/- (for the next 4 years) with the basic pay of ₹ 54400/-.
  • After 16 years, the maximum basic pay of the Grade B Officer post will be ₹ 62400/-.

RBI Grade B Perks and Allowances

  • Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of INR 55,200- p.m. on the scale of INR 55,200-2850(9)-80,850-EB-2850(2)-86,550-3300(4)-99,750 (16 years) applicable to Officers in Grade B and they will also be eligible for Dearness Allowance, Local allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family Allowance, and Grade Allowance as per rules in force from time to time. At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments are approximately INR 77,208/-(approx.)
  • At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments are approximately INR 1,16,914/-.
  • Adding several perks like fuel allowance (150 Litre), maid allowance of 3000 per month, and phone allowance have also been provided.
  • Likewise in RBI Grade B Officer, highly qualified candidates can also apply for advance increments in the interview bio-data form. Also one can get two additional increments for clearing JAIIB and CAIIB exams, one for each.
  • Dearness allowances (DA): DA of 113% of the basic salary of each employee. DA is revised to 125% after the 7 central pay commissions.
  • House Rent Allowances (HRA): HRA is given to the officers who are living in other towns or cities and not in their hometown. A Grade B Officer generally gets 2/3 BHK flat depending on the availability in the city. In case One has been not allotted a flat, RBI provides approx INR 70000 for that in Mumbai and accordingly in other cities.
  • Conveyance allowance (CA): Conveyance allowance is paid based on the declaration by you. At the Mumbai centre, the amount is an additional 14000 in hand.
    Note:- 30 litres of extra petrol for all those living in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, or Bangalore.
  • Medical allowances (MA): Medical bills if declared can be reimbursed. This allowance is valid for the dependability of the employee as well. The annual reimbursements of medical approx- Rs 4000 and also free dispensary facility besides reimbursement of medical expenses for OPD treatment/hospitalization as per eligibility.
  • Education allowances: Not all, but selected officers receive education allowances for their kids. The annual reimbursements of education allowances are up to INR 4000/per month.
  • Leave Fare Concession Travel (LFC): One of the best perks of RBI is the LFC Travel allowance. Once in two years for self, spouse, and eligible dependents. Bank provides around Rs 107000 per person for this.
  • Bank Loan Facility: As per a recent 7th central pay commission revision, RBI has declared provisions for loans in a consolidated manner. Officers can get loans and advances at a much cheaper rate for Housing, vehicles, Computers, etc., and as per the bank’s policies.
  • Briefcase Allowances: BA is drawn by Grade A and B level officers. The Annual reimbursement of Briefcase is approx Rs- 7000/-. They can reimburse the price of the briefcase every three years.
  • Grade Allowance: 2250 for Grade B officers starts after confirmation (end of probation).
  • Special Allowance: 2500 for Grade B officers starts after confirmation (end of probation).
  • RBI also provides  food/grocery Sodexo coupons to its employees ~ INR 2000/-
  • Pension: Pension is a common thing that every government employee draws after retirement.
  • RBI also provides employees with Sodexo meal.
  • Apart from the given perks, there is an Interest-free festival advance, Newspaper, telephone charges, book grants, Furnishing of Residence Allowance, Life Insurance Coverage, Medical Insurance, Educational Leaves, etc. as per eligibility.

Note: The probation period is of 2 years, extendable to 4 years.

RBI Grade B Job Profile

After the training is over, candidates will be allotted to different departments. This is purely random, people with hardcore finance experience may be given HRD and vice versa. Some of the departments that may be allotted are financial markets, banking supervision, banking regulation, currency-issuing, public debt office, foreign exchange, HRD, etc.
