  • 22 September 2022: The admit card for the document verification round for level 6 is released. The DV for RRB NTPC level 6 will be conducted from 26 to 30 September 2022.
  • 07 September 2022: The Railway Recruitment Board published the cut-off marks for RRB NTPC. Shortlisted candidates are eligible to appear for document verification round.
  • 18 July 2022: The board announced the cutoff and result for CBT 2 exam.
  • 27 June 2022: CBAT Exam Dates disclosed. It will be conducted on 30 July 2022, tentatively.


Union Cabinet has given the go-ahead to set up National Recruitment Agency (NRA) which will be responsible to conduct CET as the preliminary test for the Railway Recruitment Board i.e. CBT 1. Candidates can apply for CET RRB and the CET score will be valid for 3 years. After the CET exam, applicants must take the NTPC CET 2 exam.

The Railway Recruitment Board defines the RRB NTPC Eligibility under different components such as Nationality, age limit, and educational qualification. The candidates need to understand each component of the eligibility criteria because if they fail to fulfill it, their candidature will be canceled at any stage of the exam. RRB NTPC Nationality

The candidate must be either a citizen of India, Nepal, or Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1 January 1962 to permanently settle in India.

RRB NTPC 2023 Educational Qualification

The educational qualification for the RRB NTPC exam varies from post to post. Listed below are the required qualification for every post.

  • For Trains Clerk/ Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk/ Accounts Clerk Cum Typist/ Junior Clerk Cum Typist/ Junior Time Keeper: Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
  • For Commercial Apprentice/ Station Master/ Goods Guard/ Senior Clerk Cum Typist/ Senior Time Keeper/ Traffic Assistant: Candidates must have completed their graduation from a recognized University.

RRB NTPC Age Limit

For undergraduate-level posts, a candidate should age between 18 to 30 years, whereas, for graduate-level posts, the minimum age limit is 18 years and the upper age limit is capped at 33 years. Besides this, the board has given age relaxation for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories.

RRB NTPC Syllabus

Every year, the officials of Railways share an updated RRB NTPC syllabus along with the official recruitment notification to help candidates strategize their preparation and crack the exam with much ease. RRB NTPC 2023 Application Fees

Candidates belonging to the General category must pay Rs. 500 and Rs 250 who belong to SC/ST/OBC/Females/Ex-Serviceman/Transgender/Minorities to submit their forms successfully. RRB NTPC application fee will be accepted in online mode through Credit/Debit cards or Net Banking.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern

To ace the RRB NTPC 2023, it is mandatory for the candidates to be well-versed with its exam pattern. As per the latest update, the union cabinet has announced the setting up of NRA to conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) for all non-gazetted posts (Group B and C) under Railway Recruitment Board. The RRB NTPC exam is conducted in three stages which are: CBT 1, CBT 2, and Skill Test. Check out the RRB NTPC Exam Pattern below.

  • RRB CBT 1: It is an objective type test consisting of 3 sections- General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and Mathematics. While the General Awareness section will have 40 questions, Mathematics, and Reasoning will comprise 30 questions. Each question will carry one mark, and for every incorrect answer, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks. The candidates will be allotted 90 minutes to attempt the entire paper. Candidates who qualify for the CBT 1 exam will be eligible to appear for the CBT 2 exam.
  • RRB CBT 2: The exam pattern of CBT 2 is similar to CBT 1 only the level and number of questions are increased. There will be 50 multiple type choice questions in the General Awareness section and 35 questions will be there in Mathematics and Reasoning section. Each question will carry one mark, and 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

RRB NTPC 2023 Selection Process

RRB NTPC Selection Process comprises three stages which are CBT 1, CBT 2, and Skill Test. In order to get recruited for the NTPC job, aspirants need to qualify for all the stages. Aspirants will be selected based on the marks scored in CBT 1 and CBT 2 whereas the third stage will be qualifying in nature. Candidates who will qualify all three stages will be asked to appear for document verification and medical test. 

Candidates must note that those who have applied for the posts of Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice do not have to appear for skill test. They will have to appear for two-stage CBT followed by document verification and medical examination.

  • RRB NTPC stands for Railway Recruitment Board’s Non-Technical Popular Categories. It is a national-level examination that is conducted to recruit graduates and undergraduates for the post of Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) in various Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways.

  • The Railway Recruitment Board has divided the RRB NTPC Eligibility into three stages which are follows:

    • Nationality: The candidate should be a citizen of India
    • RRB NTPC Age Limit: For Graduate level posts, the candidate should age between 18 to 33 years, whereas, 18 to 30 years is the age limit for undergraduate level posts.
    • Educational Qualification: The candidate must have passed class 12th or high school if he wants to apply for the undergraduate level posts, whereas, graduation degree from a recognised university must be attained in order to apply for Graduate level posts.
  • RRB NTPC Typing Test is the last stage of the selection process for specific posts of levels 2 and 5. It is a computer-based test in which candidates' typing speed and skills are tested. The required typing test is 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi.

  • The RRB NTPC Syllabus includes 3 subjects, viz, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Mathematics, and General Awareness. These three sections are common in both CBT 1 & 2, but the difficulty level of CBT 2 is much higher than CBT 1.
