CTET Eligibility Criteria July 2021

CTET Eligibility 2021 has been rolled out by CBSE - Central Board of Secondary Education for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. We are providing detailed information on CTET 2021 July eligibility criteria such as age limit, minimum qualification, and nationality. The candidates having the following minimum educational qualification will have to pass the Central Teacher Eligibility criteria for appearing in CTET 2021 exam. You can check out the complete CTET for the category of General, OBC, ST, and SC. Please note that the basic requirement for CTET is senior secondary or graduation with a minimum of 50%. Make sure you fulfill all the criteria to apply online for the CTET Paper 1 & Paper 2 exam.

Ministry of Education has announced that the validity of the TET Certificate has been extended from 7 years to a lifetime

  • Important News: As per the sources, teachers will have to qualify for the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) to become a teacher in Secondary Schools. CTET & TET Exams to be extended for Class 12th Teachers as NCTE constitutes committee to develop Guidelines and Test Structure for TET & CTET exams for all the classes from Preparatory class to Class XII under New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The conducting body will be organizing TET Level 3 which is referred to as third level examinations. The outline for conducting the TET Level 3 will be released soon by the Board for the academic session of 2021-2022.

CTET Nationality Criteria 2021

Nationality is the topmost eligibility criteria in order to consider the application of CTET aspirants. To apply for CTET July 2021 exam, you must be a citizen of India. Make sure you are an Indian Citizen to fulfill the Nationality Criteria. 

CTET 2021 (July) Educational Qualification

1. CTET Eligibility Criteria: Exam I-V (Primary Level)

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)* OR
  • “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)”

2. CTET Eligibility Criteria: Exam VI-VII (Upper Primary Level)

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR
  • Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A/ B. Sc. Ed or B.A.Ed/ B. Sc. Ed. OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*

What are the CTET Age Limit?

  • CTET Maximum Age Limit: No age restriction

You need to fulfil any one of the above-mentioned CTET eligibility criteria in order to apply for the exam.

  • Candidates who have completed Diploma in Education by whatever name it would be- DIET, JBT & BTC.

  • Candidates that have completed Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelors in Education (B.Ed.).

  • Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled.

  • A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

    1. The CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT’s of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi.
    2. CTET may also apply to the unaided private schools, which may exercise the option of considering the CTET.
    3. Schools owned and managed by the State Government/local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government. However, a State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.
