CTET eligibility 2022 is basic eligibility for candidates appearing in the CTET exam. The CTET Eligibility is decided by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). CTET Eligibility 2022: Latest Update

There has been the latest change introduced in the CTET Eligibility 2022. As proposed in December 2021, CTET Eligibility criteria 2022 will now consider the candidature of the aspirants with a degree in Post-Graduation with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade and a three-year integrated BEd - MEd. This means that candidates who achieved a minimum of 55 percent marks in the post-graduation with a three-year integrated BEd-MEd course can also apply for the CTET 2022 exam.

As per the latest update, It is compulsory that teachers will have to qualify for the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) to become a teacher in Secondary Schools. CTET & TET exams to be extended for Class 12th Teachers as NCTE constitutes a committee to develop Guidelines and Test Structure for TET & CTET exams for all the classes from Preparatory class to Class XII under New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The conducting body will be organizing TET Level 3 which is referred to as third level examinations. The outline for conducting the TET Level 3 will be released soon by the Board for the academic session of 2022.

CTET Eligibility 2022: Nationality Criteria

The candidate's nationality is the first parameter in CTET eligibility 2022 that higher authorities check before moving to the next round. The candidate must be an Indian citizen or meet one of the CTET eligibility criteria 2022 on nationality listed below. Candidates are advised to go through the below-mentioned pointers to fulfill the CTET eligibility criteria on nationality.

  • A Nepalese subject.
  • A Bhutanese subject.
  • A Tibetian who arrived In India before the 1st of January 1962 to settle permanently in India.

CTET Eligibility Criteria 2022: Educational Qualification for CTET Exam

To take the CTET 2022 exam, aspirants must meet basic CTET educational qualifications eligibility criteria. Candidates must thus check the CTET Eligibility for educational qualifications before applying for the CTET Exam. Failure to meet the CTET eligibility criteria 2022 as per educational requirements might result in the candidature being canceled.

CTET Eligibility 2022: CTET Education qualification for Paper 1 (Class 1-5)

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

CTET Eligibility 2022: CTET Education Qualification for Paper 2 (Class 6-8)

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B. Sc. Ed or B.A.Ed/ B. Sc. Ed.

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

CTET Eligibility 2022: Age Limit for CTET Exam

There are no age limit criteria listed in the CTET eligibility criteria 2022. To apply for the CTET 2022 exam, you must be at least 18 years old. As per the CTET eligibility, the maximum age limit for taking the CTET exam is not specified. For CTET eligibility criteria 2022, candidates of any age group are expected to be eligible to apply this year. Hence, candidates only need to meet the lower age limit to apply for the CTET exam whereas any person above 18 is liable to apply provided they meet all other parameters of CTET eligibility

CTET Eligibility: Reservation Criteria in CTET 2022

Candidates must also check the CTET reservation criteria to be eligible for the CTET Exam. Reservation criteria are an essential part of the CTET eligibility 2022. Candidates who achieve the minimum qualifying marks in the CTET examination are declared qualified. Candidates in the General Category must score at least 60%. As per CTET eligibility criteria, reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), and Differently Abled get a 5% relaxation. According to CTET eligibility 2022, candidates who fall into the OBC/SC/ST categories must score at least 55%.

CTET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2022: Number of Attempts

There is no limit to the number of attempts a candidate can take for CTET. Neither is there an upper age limit. Candidates can attempt the CTET exam any number of times until a candidate satisfies the minimum educational qualification requirements. They can take the exam any number of times. This gives the candidates a major advantage to appear for the exam without any pressure of limited attempts in mind.

CTET Eligibility 2022: Important Points

Candidates must note the following important points for CTET Eligibility 2022 before they apply for the exam:

  • NCTE must recognise the degree or diploma held by the candidate.
  • Candidates with a Diploma or Degree in Special Education should note that only the programs recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be considered.
  • Candidates carrying D.Ed (Special Education) qualifications must undergo a 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education recognised by NCTE.
  • The minimum CTET educational qualifications mentioned above apply to the teachers of Languages, Social Studies/ Social Science, Mathematics, Science, etc.
  • For the Physical Education teachers, the norms mentioned in NCTE regulations shall be followed.
  • In the case of teachers of Art Education, Home Science, Work Education, Craft Education, etc. the norms prescribed by State Governments and other school managements shall be applicable.
  • It is the candidates’ responsibility to evaluate if they satisfy the eligibility criteria to apply or not.
  • It must be noted that the admission to take the test does not verify the candidates’ eligibility. Final verification will be done by the authorities before the appointment.
