UGC NET, also known as NTA UGC NET, is conducted twice yearly by NTA (National Testing Agency) on behalf of the University Grants Commission. What is the NET Exam?

NET exam stands for National Eligibility Test, which CSIR and UGC conduct to select the candidates for JRF or Assistant Professor in various subjects. The top exams for NET are CSIR NET & UGC NET. Who Can Apply for UGC NET? Candidates should check and confirm their eligibility before applying for the exam. Candidates must fulfil certain conditions prescribed under NET exam eligibility criteria 2022, like age limit, educational qualification, and other parameters. UGC NET Qualification 2022 is given for candidates interested in the exam. CA/CS/ICWA is considered equivalent to a PG Degree. A chartered accountant is now eligible for the NET exam. Candidates in the final year of their post-graduation can appear for the exam. They have to produce their degree at the time of admission.

UGC NET Reservation Policy

The reservation policy of the Government of India is applied to NTA UGC NET. According to the reservation policy, in the Central Universities and Institutions that are deemed to be Universities, 10% of the seats are reserved for the category General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS), 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste(SC), 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe(ST) and 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non Creamy layer”(OBC-NCL).

Each category has 4 (four %) reservations horizontally for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act, 2016) (source-Press Release by UGC).

  • Once the application process is live, you can find the direct link to the 'Registration Form' on this page.
  • After successful registration, you will be assigned an 'Application Number.' Make sure you memorize it or store it safely.
  • Next, UGC NET logs in using the assigned details to proceed with the application process.
  • Upload scanned copies of your passport size photograph' and 'signature' in the prescribed file size, dimensions, and file format (preferably JPG/JPEG format).
  • In the payment gateway, pay the requisite application fee online or offline.
  • After a successful payment, you will receive a confirmation message to your registered email address and mobile number.
  • Take out at least 4 printouts of the confirmation page and keep it secured for future reference.

How to Calculate Cut-Off Marks for UGC NET 2022?

NTA releases the UGC NET cut-off with the result in a separate PDF. It is determined by considering the predetermined candidates that NTA takes for 'Assistant Professor only' and 'Assistant Professor and JRF.' NTA takes the top 6 percent of the candidates for Assistant Professor only and the top 0.5 percent for 'Assistant Professor and JRF.' The cut-off is the minimum mark that candidates secure to qualify for UGC NET or JRF. NTA releases the cut-off separately for both categories.   • UGC NET Exam 2022 is one of the most prestigious exams, compulsory for candidates who want to make a career in research work or lectureship. The aspirants must have completed a master's degree to appear for the NET exam. NTA conducts the exam in June and December month of the year. NET is one of the knowledge-based exams that requires deep knowledge of the subject.

  • NTA has released the exam subject and shift-wise schedule for Phase 4 of the UGC NET 2022 exam on the official website @ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Phase 4 exam will be conducted from October 08 to 14, 2022. Phase 3 exam was held from September 23 to October 1, 2022. The date sheet for Phase 2 was released earlier, scheduled from September 20 to 22, 2022. Earlier Phase 1 was conducted on July 09, 11, and 12, 2022. 

  • The NTA has announced the UGC NET Exam Date for Phase 4. Phase 4 exam will be conducted from October 08 to 14, 2022. Phase 3 exam was held from September 23 to October 1, 2022. The Phase 2 exam was scheduled from September 20 to 22, 2022, for the 13 subjects. The agency conducted the Phase 1 exam on July 09, 11, and 12, 2022. The commission has decided to conduct the December 2021 and June 2022 together at various NET Centres all over the country.

  • Yes, Phase 2 and 3 of the UGC NET NTA exam were postponed from August to September 20 to October 14, 2022, for the 64 subjects. The exam was scheduled for August 12, 13, and 14, 2022. Candidates must use this time to prepare well for the exam.

  • The admit card for the UGC NET exam has been released for the exam. Candidates can download the UGC NET Phase 4 Admit Card from the portal of the direct link provided here. Follow the given steps to download the hall ticket:

    • Visit the official website,
    • Click on Admit Card button,
    • Enter the credentials to login on to the portal,

  • A minimum of 40% marks is required to qualify for the UGC NET 2022 exam. After getting 40% marks, the separate cut-off will be published for different subjects. The final allotment of seats will be based on the cutoff marks decided by the commission.

  • Yes, IGNOU & PGDM students are eligible for the UGC NET exam. All the IGNOU candidates must have completed the post-graduation from one of the listed subjects. There is no college restriction, and it should be government-recognized universities/colleges.

  • The UGC NET Qualified Salary for an assistant professor is mentioned. Candidates can expect lucrative pay in the range of INR 25,000/- to INR 40,000/- per month in the starting phase based on their scores, skills, and college.

  • Candidates can attempt the UGC NET exam throughout their life. However, the eligibility for JRF is determined by the age of the candidates. The candidate can give the NTA UGC NET Exam for JRF up to 30 years of age. There is age relaxation for women and OBC/SC/ST/PwD candidates.
