TET Exam Eligibility Criteria

The TET and CTET exams are conducted for Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for teaching classes 1 to 5 while Paper II is for teaching classes 6 to 12. To be eligible to appear for the TET/CTET exam, make sure you have the following eligibility criteria as required by the exam conducting authority for Paper I and Paper 2.

Paper 1 Eligibility Criteria for TET Exam

  • Must have passed Senior Secondary or any equivalent exam with 50% of marks, also passed or final year appearing students in 2 years diploma in elementary education are eligible to apply. OR
  • Must have cleared Senior Secondary or equivalent exam with 50% marks along with a 4 years bachelor's degree in elementary education. Also, final-year students are eligible to apply. OR
  • Must have passed graduation and passed or appeared for the final year of the 2-year diploma in elementary education.

Paper 2 Eligibility Criteria for TET Exam 2023

  • Candidates must have passed graduation and passed or appeared in the final year of a 2-year diploma in elementary education. OR
  • Must pass graduation with at least 50% of marks and are appearing or have passed the 1st year of B.Ed. OR
  • Must have cleared the senior secondary exam with 50% marks and those who have passed or appeared for the final year of B.EI.Ed is eligible.
  • Candidates who have passed or appearing for the final year of 4 years integrated course BA, B.ED, B.Sc, B.Ed, or any other equivalent course are also eligible to apply.

TET Exams 2023: CTET Exam Pattern

CTET and DSSSB are two such TET exams that are conducted on an all-India basis. Both these exams are the most talked-about exams among teaching aspirants. Candidates who wish to appear for the DSSSB exam must clear the CTET exam.

UPTET exam is a teaching exam at a state level. It stands for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test, an exam conducted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to recruit teachers in various schools under the Uttar Pradesh legislature.

TET Exam 2023: UPTET Eligibility Criteria

TET Exams 2023: Applicability

Every year, lakhs of candidates from different parts of the country appear for TETs with the aim to obtain the opportunity for teacher recruitment to the following posts:

  • Primary Teachers (PRTs): For Classes 1-5
  • Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs): For Classes 6-8

  • Paper 1 is conducted for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 5.

  • Candidates belonging to the General categories should have obtained at least 60% while SC/ST/OBC Candidates should have scored at least 55% marks.

  • After the declaration of TET scores, you can apply for a government teaching job for that particular state. Also if a candidate qualifies CTET then he/she becomes eligible to appear in KVS, NVS, DSSSB examinations conducted for teacher recruitment for PRT and TGT levels.

  • Yes, B.Ed. is important to appear for the TET Exam held for the upper primary level. Candidates who want to take the exam for the primary level should have completed D.El.Ed. or BTC.
