Prescribed by the Union Public Service Commission, CDS Eligibility 2022 includes factors like Nationality, age limit, qualification, physical standards etc. Earlier, the CDS examination was conducted to select male candidates for the various positions in the Defence Services, however, now female candidates are also eligible to apply for the aforesaid examinations. CDS Eligibility 2022

The Union Public Service Commission releases the CDS Eligibility criteria along with the official recruitment notification and this year, it is scheduled to be released on 18 May 2022. Interested candidates must check the eligibility criteria for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam before filling out the CDS application form, as those who fail to meet the eligibility parameters will be debarred from the examination. So, to ensure final selection, candidates must fulfil all the CDS Eligibility criteria, including,

CDS Age Limit Criteria

The candidate should not have been born later than 1st July 2004 and not earlier than 2nd July 1999.

  • As of 1st July 2022, the age of the candidate should be between 20-24 years. (i.e. the candidate should not have been born later than 1nd July 2004 and not earlier than 2nd July 1999)
  • Candidates who hold a valid and current commercial pilot license issued by DGCA (India) are entitled to relaxation in the upper age limit up to 26 years. (i.e. the candidate should not have been born later than 1st July 2003 and not earlier than 2nd July 1997)
  • Candidates who are below the age limit of 25 years must be unmarried.
    Also, the candidates won’t be allowed to get married during the training period.
  • Candidates who are above the age of 25 years and are married can also apply but during training, no accommodation for a spouse would be provided nor will the candidates be allowed to live with family outside the premises.

CDS Eligibility 2022: Nationality

To be considered eligible for the posts the applicants must fulfil the under noted criteria for nationality. The UPSC CDS eligibility criteria requirements are as follows: 

(i) a citizen of India, or
(ii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iii) a subject of Nepal, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01/01/1962, for settling in India permanently, or
(v) an Indian origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam for settling in India permanently.

Note: Candidates in categories 2, 3, 4, and 5 must present to the recruiting authority a valid eligibility certificate issued by the Indian government. The CDS eligibility certificate is not required for Gorkhas subjected to Nepal.

CDS Eligibility Qualification

The UPSC has established a minimum educational qualification for CDS, and candidates must meet the CDS qualification requirements to be considered for the posts.   • Yes, candidates studying in the final semester can apply for the CDS 2022 exam if they satisfy all other CDS eligibility criteria. Make sure you have checked the age limit, marital status and other parameters of the eligibility criteria for the post you are applying for. 

  • The CDS age limit criteria alter according to the posts the candidates are applying for. It is of paramount importance for the applicants to fulfil the criteria before applying for the exam, otherwise, their candidature may get cancelled at a later stage.     • For OTA: 19 - 25 yrs
