CTET Exam Pattern is released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Candidates aspiring to write the exam should be aware of the CTET Exam Pattern 2023 for Paper 1 and Paper 2 to prepare accordingly.

What's New in CTET Exam Pattern?

CBSC has made new changes in the CTET exam pattern to incorporate new techniques in teaching. You should also have complete knowledge of the CTET syllabus to be aware of the important topics for both paper 1 and paper 2.

  • The exam will be conducted offline.
  • Multiple-choice questions will be asked.
  • The language of the paper will be Hindi and English, and candidates can choose any language.
  • Paper 1 includes 5 subjects which comprise 150 questions of one mark each.
  • Paper 2 also includes 5 subjects wherein candidates have to choose between science & maths, and social science. 150 questions will be asked, and one mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • There is no negative marking in CTET.
  • The examination will be conducted for 150 minutes.

CTET Exam Pattern - Paper 2

CTET paper 2 exam pattern includes details on the number of questions asked in each section like CDP, Language 1, Language 2, and Science & Mathematics or Social Science. CTET Marking Scheme

Along with the exam pattern, understanding the CTET Marking Scheme for the upcoming exam is also critical. The marking scheme for the CTET Exam comprises the distribution of marks for correct and incorrect answers. Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer whereas no marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer or unattempted question. 

  • The total marks for Paper 1 and Paper 2 is 150 each.
  • There is no negative marking in the examination.

  • Child Development and Pedagogy questions will focus on the educational psychology of teaching and learning. It will be relevant to children of 6 to 11 years. They will concentrate on learning the characters and requirements of various learners.
  • The questions in Language I will be related to the medium of education, communication with learners, and the characteristics and features of a good facilitator of learning.
  • The questions in Language II will direct at the elements of language, conversation, and comprehension skills.
  • Language II and Language I cannot be the same. A candidate may choose any language as Language I and another as Language II from the available language options and will be required to define the same on the confirmation page.
  • CTET Pattern of Paper 1 covers the topics from the NCERT for classes 1st to 5th, but their difficulty level and linkages can go up to the Secondary stage.
