November 2022 Important Days - Overview

  • National Cancer Awareness Day (7th November)

On 7th November every year, India celebrates National Cancer Awareness Day to raise awareness about the life-threatening disease. The day was announced in September 2014 by the Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan. It marks the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Marie Curie, whose research on radioactivity contributed to finding the treatment for cancer.

  • Children's Day (14th November)

Children's Day celebrates the young leaders - the building blocks of society. India celebrates it on 14th November, the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly remembered as Chacha Nehru. Many educational and motivational programs are held across the nation to promote the rights and education of children.

Universally, Children's Day is celebrated on 20th November. It marks the date of the Declaration of Child's Rights by the U.N. General Assembly in 1959.

  • International Men's Day (19th November)

On 19th November, International Men's Day is observed globally to recognize and celebrate the achievement of men and their contribution to society. The idea is not to compete with Women's Day but to bring to light issues faced by men worldwide. These include toxic masculinity, mental health issues, and increased suicide rates.

  • Constitution Day (26th November)

Constitution Day, observed on 26th November, is also known as the Samvidhan Divas or National Law Day in India. The Indian Constitution, adopted on 26th November 1949, came into effect on 26th January 1950. The day celebrates Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in drafting the Constitution. It presents an opportunity to honor the Constitution and spread the thoughts and ideas of Dr. Ambedkar.
