Important Days in March 2022
As we all know that March is the month when spring starts and winter commences. It is the start of new beginnings. No Smoking Day
It is celebrated to encourage people to quit smoking by raising the awareness about harmful effects of tobacco. It is celebrated on the second Wednesday of March every year.
CISF Raising Day
CISF Raising day is celebrated to honour the foundation day of the Central Industrial Security Force(CISF). The goal of CISF is to provide better safety and security to industrial enterprises including public and private sectors.
Mauritian National Day
It is celebrated due to 2 events that are marked in the history of Mauritius. It got independence from Britain in 1968 and become a republic in 1992.

Ordnance Factories Day (India)
It is observed to celebrate the foundation stone of India’s first ordnance factory in 1801, which was in Cossipore (Kolkata).
International Day of Happiness
This day is celebrated to raise the importance of happiness in the everyday life of people.
World Sparrow Day
This day is celebrated to raise awareness about the conservation of house sparrows every year on 20th March. It was first celebrated in 2010.
World Forestry Day
World Forestry Day is observed to raise the importance of all types of forests across the world and conserve them.
World Down Syndrome Day
United Nations observes 21st March as World Down Syndrome Day since 2012 to raise awareness for Down Syndrome. Down Syndrome is a naturally occurring Chromosomal arrangement. It usually causes varying degrees of intellectual and physical disability and associated medical issues.
World Poetry Day
UNESCO recognizes the unique ability of poetry to capture the creative spirit of the human mind on 21st March in 1999 in UNESCO’s 30th session in Paris.
World Water Day
It is observed to highlight specific aspects of freshwater every year on 22nd March.
World Meteorological Day
On this day in 1950, World Meteorological Organisation Came into force. This day is observed to attract the attention towards Climate for society safety.
World TB Day
It is observed to raise awareness about Tuberculosis among the people as it is still an epidemic in some parts of the world. On this day Dr Robert Koch announced his discovery of mycobacterium Tuberculosis. So it is celebrated to commemorate his discovery as well.
World Theatre Day
This day has been celebrated by the ITI Centres and Cooperating members on 27th March since 1962. This celebrated to spread the importance of an art form which is “theatre” among the politicians, govt. And institutions that have not realised its potential for economic growth.
