The names of external organs are nostrils, skin, nose, mouth, and ear whereas internal organs are liver, stomach, heart, and lungs. One or two examples of our organs are the kidneys, lungs, and heart. An organ is a collection of tissues that together perform a specific function as a functional unit in biology ("organum" refers to a tool or instrument).

External Organs

  • These are known as sense organs and are vital organs in our body because they enable us to understand our environment.
  • Our external organs are those that allow us to see the world outside.
  • The list of external organs is as follows:
  • Skin: The skin is the body's biggest organ. The integumentary system is comprised of the skin as well as its extracellular components, such as the nails, hair, sweat, and oil glands.
  • Nostrils: One of the external two nasal cavity openings in vertebrates, the nostril allows odors to enter the olfactory system and air to enter the lungs.
  • Nose: The nose is a part of our respiratory system. It permits air to enter our bodies, purifies the air, heats the air, and makes it more humid.
  • The ear, a vertebrate organ of balance and hearing, is made up of an outer region that gathers sound and an inner section that receives sound and sends nerve signals to the brain.
  • Mouth: The mouth is the body's entrance point for food. The lips enclose this aperture, which also contains the tongue and teeth, in humans.

Internal Organs

  1. The internal organs of an animal are those that are located inside the body, just beneath the skin.
  2. There are a total of 78 main organs in the human body.
  3. Of these 78 organs, five are thought to be essential for survival.
  4. Layers of fat, skin, and bones protect internal organs like the liver, stomach, heart, and lungs.
  5. The collaboration of various organs results in the creation of many organ systems.
