Updated on: September 25th, 2023
The length of the bridge is 110 m.
Given that Speed of the train = 72 km/hr
On concerting the above value we get
= 72 x 1000/3600 m/sec
= 72 x 5/18 m/sec
= 20 m/sec
Also given that time taken to cross the bridge = 13 sec
Therefore, total distance covered by the train = 20 x 13 = 260 m
Hence, length of the bridge = 260 – 150 = 110 m

Speed
The distance travelled in relation to the time it took to travel that distance is how speed is defined. Since speed simply has a direction and no magnitude, it is a scalar quantity.
There are four different forms of speed.
- Uniform speed
- Variable speed
- Average speed
- Instantaneous speed
The table below provides the speed formula:
s = d/t
Where,
d is the distance traveled in m
s is the speed in m.s-1
t is the time taken in s
Speedometers are used to measure speed in moving vehicles. Odometers are used to calculate the distance travelled. A graph can be used to calculate speed as well. The distance-time graph aids in comprehending an object’s speed.
