RRB NTPC Full Form

The full form of RRB NTPC is Railway Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Categories. It is a national-level exam that is conducted to appoint candidates for various posts. It is one of the most popular exams in India and offers decent pay upon selection. Hence, it is also highly competitive. the selection process for the exam consists of 2 CBTs. PET, Document Verification and for some posts, Skill Tests as well.

RRB Full Form

The full form of RRB is Railway Recruitment Board, commonly known as RRB. RRB was formerly known as the ‘Railway Service Commission’, but in January 1985 it was renamed as the Railway Recruitment Board. In 1998, all the RRBs came under the umbrella organization called the Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) under the Ministry of Railway.
RRB is responsible for conducting competitive examinations for Group C and Group D categories for recruiting candidates in the Ministry of Railways through all India competitive examinations. These examinations are held for 10th pass, 12th pass, and Graduates.

There are a total of 21 RRBs in India. The headquarters of RRB is located in New Delhi. 21 Railway Recruitment Boards have been established to plan, organize, evaluate, monitor, and carry out the recruitment process in order to handle the rush meticulously and to guarantee a hassle-free process. The RRBs conduct the following four types of exams for recruiting candidates in the Ministry of Railways.

  • RRB Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) Exam
  • RRB Group D Exam/RRC Level 1 exam

The selection process for the RRB NTPC is of the following stages:

  • 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Document Verification/Medical Examination


The salary of NTPC in Railways is considered to be lucrative. The pay band for NTPC is in the range of Rs. 35,400 to Rs.1,12,400 with a grade pay is Rs. 4200. The RRB NTPC salary for 12th pass posts ranges between Rs. 19,900 to 21,700 per month. Based on the posts for which one has been selected, the NTPC salary can vary significantly.

NTPC Full Form

A lot of times, candidates get confused between RRB NTPC and NTPC full form. This is because there are two different full forms for NTPC. NTPC full form stands for National Thermal Power Corporation, which is the largest thermal power generating organization in India. Apart from power generation, NTPC is also involved in coal mining, power trading, power distribution, equipment manufacturing, and renewable energy.
