How to Prepare Reasoning for Railway Group D Exam 2018 (Topic-wise)

Railway Group D recruitment 2018 has provided a great opportunity for aspirants to start their career at entry level. The numbers of vacancies are huge and the candidates can grab this opportunity with a systematic preparation strategy. Through this article, we are sharing strategy to prepare for reasoning section of RRB Group D exam. First and foremost important step is to understand the exam pattern & level of efforts required for reasoning section. There will be a computer-based test for the selection of the candidates for the RRB Group D Posts. The exact details of CBT are given below.
RRB Group D Reasoning Preparation Strategy 2018
The computer-based test will contain the questions on Reasoning, Maths, General Science & GK topics. The Question Papers will be available in 15 Regional Languages (Recently Updated). On the basis of the computer-based test, the candidates will be shortlisted for the further stages of the recruitment process.
- Total Marks of the CBT- 100 marks
- Total Time Duration of the Exam- 90 minutes (1 Hour 30 Minutes)
- Mode of Language- Question Papers will be available in 15 Regional Languages (Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu).
Candidates can expect good weightage of reasoning section. The reasoning section is easy to solve and very scoring as compared to other sections. The candidates can score well with a proper preparation strategy. The candidates should divide their preparation strategy into following steps:-

Completing syllabus from good sources.

Taking topic wise quizzes after completing every topic.

Taking mock tests and analysing weak areas.

Matrix |
1 or 2 Matrix of letters with numbers are given from which correct set of numbers for given word is to find out. Try to solve such questions using options. |
Word formation |
Most of the time word cannot be formed is asked. These questions are easy to score, candidates losses marks only because of silly mistakes. Don’t rush to the answers take time and mark right answer. |
Arranging words in Meaningful order or Dictionary order |
It can be a meaningful order of doing a certain task or following a certain rule. Most probably, dictionary order based problems will be asked in which words are to be arranged according to dictionary sequence in ascending or descending order. Using options you can solve such questions in less time and more accuracy. |
Venn diagram |
Problems based on Venn Diagram, Syllogism, and Types of Question: Represent the relation between Student, Teacher and Boys. Practice questions from previous year’s questions and focus on the speed and accuracy. |
Directions; Distances |
Simple problems that can be solved by just drawing all information on paper. In such questions, silly mistakes can hamper your performance badly. Take care of directions, turns, angles and proper sequence of steps followed. Practice questions from previous year’s questions and from online platforms also for updated questions. |
Blood Relations |
Family Tree or General Blood Relation Problems. The problems based on family tree are easy to crack if you follow proper steps and tools in determining the relations. Apply the question to your own family structure. It will make it easy. |
Missing Number |
Find the missing number from the given matrix or diagram. These questions are evergreen, the concepts used in such questions include questions from all previously covered concepts. |
Puzzles |
Number based puzzles like 7 × 5 × 6 × 5 = 6575, then 8 × 7 × 4 × 6 = ? Or Find the correct equation type questions or Quant based questions like on age, speed and distance or Seating arrangement questions. The level of questions can be raised a little bit in such topics, therefore try to solve questions from previous year’s questions for experience and solve questions from online platforms for the updated questions based on new patterns. |
Series |
Mainly questions on Number, Alphabet series. Question Type: Complete the given series a_bc_ _cbad_bcd_cda |
Non Verbal |
Questions like Complete the pattern, Assemble Image. |
Reasoning |
Mirror Image, Hidden Image, Counting Figures. Figure based Analogy/Classification/ Series or cube based questions may be asked. |
