(D) [Mg(OH)2]

Magnesium oxide (MgO) + Water (H2O) = (Mg(OH)2). Magnesium oxide reacts with water to produce magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2). Magnesium oxide is an inorganic substance with poor water solubility. Magnesium(2+) hydroxide or Milk of Magnesia are other names for it.

Magnesium Hydroxide Applications (Mg(OH)2)

  • Magnesium hydroxide has mediocre electrical conductivity but great heat conductivity.
  • It is employed as an antacid or laxative in suspension form.
  • used as an additive in food.
  • It is commonly utilized in the treatment of waste water.
  • used to put out fires.
  • As a photographic fixer, it is employed in the wet plate collodion process.
  • In gold mining, it is employed.
  • employed in warehouses.

(Mg(OH)2) Effects on Health

Magnesium hydroxide can cause flushing or sleepiness. Daily consumption of this substance may cause electrolyte problems. Constant use may cause nausea, diarrhoea, and cramping in the abdomen. Watery diarrhoea or gastrointestinal discomfort may be symptoms. Hypomagnesemia, which is a symptom of poisoning, causes symptoms such as nausea, flushing, thirst, drowsiness, loss of tendon reflexes, respiratory depression, and coma. It can also induce vomiting, hypotension, confusion, muscle weakness, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.

Magnesium oxide (MgO) + Water (H2O) = ? (A) [Mg(OH)] (B) [Mg2(OH)] (C) [Mg(O2H)2] (D) [Mg(OH)2]

Magnesium oxide (MgO) + Water (H2O) = (Mg(OH)2). According to this chemical formula, one atom of Magnesium oxide and water reacts with each other. Due to this, Magnesium Hydroxide forms. (Mg(OH)2) is the chemical formula of Magnesium Oxide.
