Delhi Police Head Constable: Professional Requirement
- Must have speed in English typing on Computer with 30 words per minute.
- Speed in Hindi typing on Computer with 25 words per minute.

Both the posts including Delhi Police Constable and Delhi Police Head Constable are entitled to House Rental Allowance (HRA) with 24 per cent of Basic Pay. Note 1: The salary structure for both Delhi Police Constable and Delhi Police Head Constable are calculated after the 7th Pay Commission.
Note 2: As per inputs from multiple sources, there are also other benefits provided to staff working in Delhi Police which include a 13-month salary. This salary gets credited in January each year. However, the extra salary only consists of Basic Pay and DA.
Note 3: Constable and Head Constable both get Rs 10,000 as Dress Allowance which gets credited in July each year.
Delhi Police Constable and Delhi Police Head Constable: Career Growth
The career growth prospective for both these posts is not as good as expected, as for most of the higher posts, IPS officers are given more preference. Candidates joining as Constable will have to give an internal exam after 5 years of service to become Head Constable. Also, it takes a lot of time for a Constable to get promoted to Sub-Inspector compared to Head Constable. However, candidates with true potential and their manifestation to serve the people can rise the ladder and reach the highest post that they can achieve.
Candidates selected for Constable can also prepare well and sit for Civil Services to join as Indian Police Service (IPS) or give SSC CPO exam to become Assistant Sub-Inspector or Sub-Inspector directly. Moreover, a Constable and Head Constable have an upper hand on age relaxation over other candidates who are not in service. Constable or Head Constable belonging to the General category can appear up to 40 years of age.
