Is IB ACIO a Temporary or Permanent Job?

Here are a few points which the candidate needs to keep in mind to make a conclusion about the term of service for the IB ACIO post:

  • First of all, candidates for IB ACIO post are recruited under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and recruitment are made under the Central Government
  • Candidates recruited through the IB ACIO selection process will be handling crucial and critical intelligence and secret information of the country. Therefore, this means selected candidates cannot be given a temporary service as the critical information can get leaked if it is a temporary or contractual service
  • Also, selected candidates will be closely working with Armed Forces, State Police (whenever needed), and Border Security Forces who have permanent service. Hence, the Central Government cannot discriminate a candidate’s service term as then it will be a matter of national security
  • The term ‘temporary’ here means the appointment will be temporary till the candidate completes the probation period of around 2 years. Candidates will be inducted on a permanent basis once they fulfil the following factors as listed below:
    • Complete the training period
    • Pass the departmental test including physical test, aptitude test
    • Fulfil the desired qualities of a Central Intelligence Officer. This will be certified by the appointing authority (viz. IB) on the grounds of behaviour and discipline
    • Other service conditions as mentioned by the IB department
