SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2023

Candidates who will be taking the SSC Stenographer must know the various stages of selection thoroughly. SSC Stenographer Selection Process is the basis on which the recruitment cycle is designed. It is important that candidates are aware of all the stages of selection so they can efficiently prepare for the exam. Being aware of the different stages will be helpful in planning and scoring well. The three stages of the SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2023 are Computer Based Test, Skill Test and Document Verification.

As per SSC Stenographer selection process, candidates who qualify the CBT are selected for the Skill Test. For this, candidates need to have a thorough knowledge of stenography and should have a typing speed of up to 100 wpm based on which Grade they have applied for. Candidates should also note that SSC Stenography eligibility states that candidates only need to have passed the 12th class to appear in the exam. SSC Stenographer Selection Process Stages

As per SSC’s guidelines, the SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2023 consists of three stages. It is important for candidates to know all the stages to prepare for the exam accordingly. These include the following:

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

Stage 2: Skill Test in Stenography

Stage 3: Document Verification

SSC Stenographer CBT Selection Process

Candidates need to qualify the first stage of SSC Stenographer selection process which is CBT. Only after qualifying this stage, candidates will be selected for the skill test. The exam will have 4 sections, namely, General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 marks), General Awareness (50 marks), English Language and Comprehension (100 marks). The total time for answering a total of 200 questions in the CBT is 2 hours.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process: Skill Test

Candidates who qualify the CBT exam will be selected for the second stage of SSC Stenographer selection process, the skill test. During this test, the candidate's practical knowledge of stenography will be tested. They will be asked to type out a dictation within a certain time limit.   • For Grade C, candidates need to type 100 wpm in both English and Hindi. Candidates are provided 40 mins for English and 55 minutes for Hindi.
  • For Grade D, candidates need to type 80 wpm in both English and Hindi. Candidates are provided 50 mins for English and 65 minutes for Hindi.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2023 Document Verification

Document Verification is the last stage of SSC Stenographer selection process. It is done to verify the information provided by the candidate during the application process. Candidates will need to furnish the following document to successfully get recruited for the post of Stenographer.

  • Valid Photo ID proof
  • Educational Qualification Certificates
  • Caste/Category Certificate, if applicable
  • PwD Certificate, if applicable
  • NOC, in case they are already employed by a Governmental organisation.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process: Qualifying Marks

The SSC Stenographer cut-off is released separately for different categories of candidates. These are the minimum marks required for candidates to qualify the exam. The category-wise qualifying marks for SSC Stenographer are given in the following table:

SSC Stenographer Resolution of Ties

It often happens that at the time of releasing the result, the commission finds two or more candidates to have scored the same marks. In such a case of a tie between candidates, the selection is based on parameters other than overall marks. The norms of SSC Stenographer resolution of ties are provided below.

  • Marks scored in General Intelligence & Reasoning.
  • Marks scored in General Awareness.
  • As per Date of birth, older candidates will be given preference.
  • Alphabetical order of the names of applicants.

  • According to the notification, SSC Stenographer Selection process is done on the basis of three stages i.e. Computer-based test, skill test and document verification. Candidates need to qualify all these stages to be recruited for the post of Stenographer.

  • As per in SSC Stenographer Selection Process, the documents needed for document verification are as follows.

    • Valid ID Proof
    • Two photocopies of every necessary document
    • Category certificate
    • Education qualification certificate
    • Certificate of age relaxation (if any)
    • Disabilities Certificate (if applicable)
  • After you crack the SSC Stenographer exam and successfully clear all the stages of the selection process, you will be given the appointment letter, which is the beginning of your journey as a Stenographer in ministries.

  • In SSC Stenographer selection process, the skill test is the second stage and most crucial stage. During SSC Stenographer skill test, candidates are asked to type out 100 wpm for Grade C and 80 wpm for Grade D based on the dictation given to them in a specified time.

  • The SSC Stenographer tie resolution is based on the following criteria in the exact order.

  • A separate photograph is not required for the SSC Stenographer document verification stage. But there must be a photo ID proof like Voter Card, Driving License, Passport, etc.
