The Commission prescribes the eligibility criteria with respect to nationality/citizenship, qualification, SSC Stenographer age limit and age relaxation for candidates. SSC Stenographer Age Limit

Knowing SSC Stenographer Age Limit is important for the candidates to successfully register themselves for the exam. Candidates should note that the Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate available on the date of submission of application will only be accepted by SSC.

SSC Stenographer Age Relaxation

There is a certain age limit relaxation for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. Candidates belonging to the OBC category will get an age relaxation of 3 years, which makes their upper age limit 33 for Grade C and 30 for Grade D. SSC Stenographer Eligibility: Qualification

Another important parameter in the SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2022 is the minimum education qualification required to appear for the exam. To be eligible for the exam, the aspirant must have cleared 10+2 or any equivalent exam from a recognized board as on August 01, 2022. Both the full time and distance learning mode of education is approved by the commission.

Candidates who are pursuing their class 12th or awaiting their final year result are also eligible to appear for SSC Steno exam. All such candidates must produce valid proof of pursuing their class 12th and passing the previous classes.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2022: Nationality

As per the SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2022, candidates must be a resident of Indian territory with valid ID proof to substantiate it. However, candidates falling into the following categories are also eligible for the SSC Stenographer exam.

  • a citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin migrated from either/or Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC Stenographer Reservation Criteria 2022

Some important eligibility points that apply to the reserved categories in relation to the SSC Stenographer 2022 exam are as follows. 

  1. Aspirants who belong to the scheduled caste, scheduled tribes, OBC, economically weaker sections (EWS), Ex-servicemen and physically challenged categories fall under SSC Stenographer Reservation Criteria.
  2. Aspirants with One Arm (OA), One Leg (OL), Both Legs (BL), Blind (B) or Low Vision (LV) disabilities are allowed to apply for Grade C as per the guidelines of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
  3. Grade D post can be filled by aspirants suffering from OA/OL/OAL/BL/B or LV disabilities except for the post of BRO.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria FAQs

  • SSC Stenographer eligibility is prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission. It includes three factors, which are, age limit, educational qualification and nationality. Those who have attained the age of 18 years and cleared 10+2 or any equivalent exam from a recognized board are eligible for SSC Stenographer 2022.

  • The SSC Stenographer Age Limit is 18 years for both Grade 'C' & 'D' posts, however, the upper age limit is capped at 30 for Grade C and 27 for Grade D posts. Besides it, the commission also provides age relaxation to the candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Ex-servicemen categories.

  • As per the SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2022, the minimum age limit for SSC Steno is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 27 for Grade D & 30 for Grade C posts. However, the age relaxations are also given to the candidates. Some permissible SSC Stenographer age relaxation in upper age for particular social categories are as follows- 

    • OBC: 3 years
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • PwD (UR): 10 years
    • PwD (OBC): 13 years
    • PwD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Locomotor disability including dwarfism, cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy are considered. However, the final selection is subject to availability of suitable positions.

  • No, there are no restrictions on the number of attempts for the SSC Stenographer. Candidates who fall under the prescribed SSC Stenographer Age Limit and passed class 12th from the recognised board are elibigle to apply for SSC Stenographer exam.

  • Under SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2022, the age relaxations for widows, divorced women, women judicially separated are as follows. 

    • General category - Up to 35 years of age
    • SC/ST category - Up to 40 years of age
