SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria 2020

It is essential to know the SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria 2020 for contesting in the selection procedure for Stenographer Grade C and D recruitment. You must fulfil all the criteria set for eligibility by the authorities. The eligibility is decided upon fulfilling the SSC Stenographer Minimum Qualification. The notification strictly mentions that only those candidates who have required skills in stenography are eligible to apply. The candidates with specialized mental and intellectual disabilities may fill the application form as per ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016’. In Border Roads Organization (BRO) only male candidates are eligible for the post of Stenographer Grade D. Eligibility is evaluated for academic qualification, age, nationality, social category, physical standard and efficiency and disability.

Nationality/Citizenship

As per the SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria 2020, for appearing in 2019-2020 exam a candidate may be either (a) a citizen of India, or (b) a citizen of Nepal, or (c) a citizen of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India to settle, before January 1, 1962, or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Myanmar, East African countries to settle here.

SSC Stenographer Educational Qualification

As per the SSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria 2020, for appearing in 2019-2020 exam, the aspirant must meet minimum SSC Stenographer Educational Qualification. The aspirant must have cleared 10+2 or any equivalent exam from a recognized board or from a recognized university as on January 1, 2020. Both the full time, open and distance learning mode of education is approved.

SSC Stenographer Reservation Criteria

Some important eligibility points that apply to the reserved categories in relation to the SSC Stenographer exam are as follows. 

  1. Aspirants who belong to the scheduled caste, scheduled tribes, OBC, economically weaker sections (EWS), Ex-servicemen and physically challenged categories fall under SSC Stenographer Reservation Criteria.
  2. Aspirants with One Arm (OA), One Leg (OL), Both Legs (BL), Blind (B) or Low Vision (LV) disabilities are allowed to apply for Grade C as per the guidelines of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
  3. Grade D post can be filled by aspirants suffering from OA/OL/OAL/BL/B or LV disabilities except for the post of BRO.
