SSC CHSL Exam Pattern is released by the commission along with the recruitment notification. SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Tier 1

SSC CHSL tier 1 is conducted for all the candidates who fulfil SSC CHSL eligibility as set by the authorities. Only candidates who qualify Tier 1 exam will be able to appear for Tier 2. Candidates can check out the SSC CHSL exam pattern Tier 1 below for an enhanced understanding of the exam.

  • Tier 1 exam is an objective-type multiple choice test which is held in online mode.
  • SSC CHSL exam pattern for Tier 1 consists of 4 sections - English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. 
  • There are a total of 100 questions in the exam with each section consisting of 25 questions.
  • SSC CHSL duration for the exam is 60 minutes. The duration is 80 minutes for PwD candidates.
  • For each correct answer, candidates are awarded 2 marks.
  • For every incorrect answer, there is SSC CHSL negative marking of 0.50 marks.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

Candidates who qualify Tier 1 exam are eligible to appear for tier 2. As per the new SSC CHSL Exam Pattern, there are major changes in the Tier 2 exam. Although Tier 2 was a descriptive paper before, it will now be objective in nature. It has also been divided into two different sessions that are further divided into different sections and modules. Knowing these modules in detail is essential to prepare them thoroughly for the exam.

  • In session 1, there will be 2 modules in both section 1 and section 2, whereas, only one module will be there in section 3.
  • There will be a total of 135 questions carrying the weightage of 3 marks. There will also be a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer.
  • Candidates will be given one hour to attempt each section and 15 minutes will be given to attempt section 3 of session 1.
  • Session 2 will include Section 3 i.e Skill test/typing test for the post of DEO, LDC, and JSA.
  • Candidates need to ensure that they qualify each section of Tier 2 to be eligible for their desired posts.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Marking Scheme

SSC CHSL marking scheme is set as per the latest CHSL exam pattern, will provide you 2 marks for each correct answer in the exam. The maximum marks for the Tier 1 exam are 200. There are a total of 4 subjects/sections in the CHSL Tier 1 exam, and each section will contain 25 questions. So, each section will be of 50 marks. On the other hand, tier 2 comprises 135 questions carrying the weightage of 3 marks each. Candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks to proceed to the next recruitment stage.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Negative Marking

Candidates often wonder about the SSC CHSL negative marking norms in the exam. As per the SSC CHSL Exam pattern, the question paper does consist of negative markings. Hence, for every wrong answer, there will be a deduction of 0.50 marks. In addition, there will be a negative marking of 1 mark on every wrong answer in Sections 1, 2 and the first Module of Section 3 under Tier 2. This means that candidates must ensure accuracy in their answers and not answer the questions blindly.

These resolutions will be applied in the following manner to resolve any ties as per the SSC CHSL exam pattern:

  • Total marks for the written test.
  • Date of Birth, with the elder candidate coming up first.
  • The candidates' first names are listed in alphabetical order.
