SSC CGL exam pattern 2022 is released by the Staff Selection Commission for the CGL exam which is going to be held from 11 April to 21 April 2022. It is important for the candidates going to appear for the exam to go through the latest SSC CGL exam pattern and make appropriate changes needed in their study plan. SSC CGL is a national-level exam that is conducted by SSC every year to recruit candidates eligible for the Group B and Group C posts in various ministries of the Government of India. The SSC CGL paper pattern 2022 comprises 4 stages - Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4. While Tier 1 and Tier 2 contain multiple-choice questions (MCQ), Tier 3 is a descriptive exam. Candidates who qualify for all these three stages will be asked to appear for the Tier 4 exam which comprises of Data Entry Speed Test or Computer Proficiency Test. SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2022

SSC CGL exam pattern 2022 consists of four stages/ tiers that are designed to test the candidates on various aspects of knowledge and their abilities. The four stages of the SSC CGL exam are – Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4. The exams for the first two tiers are conducted online. Tier 3 is a written exam and Tier 4 is a skill test which is a computer-based exam. Here, we are sharing the SSC CGL pattern for all four tiers. SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam pattern comprises four sections that are divided into 25 questions each. Each question carries 2 marks, making every section worth 50 marks each. The total number of marks candidates can score in this exam is 200. It is a computer-based, MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) exam. The total duration of this exam is 60 minutes i.e. 1 hour, within which the candidates have to complete all four sections. The subjects under SSC CGL exam pattern Tier 1 are as follows: English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness.   • For every wrong answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted from the total score.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

Candidates who clear the Combined Graduate Level Tier 1 exam will be asked to appear for SSC CGL Tier 2 exam 2022. This exam is also a computer-based, MCQ exam and is divided into four sections. Going by the updated SSC CGL Tier 2 exam pattern 2022, this exam has a total of 500 questions and each paper in this Tier has to be completed within the timeframe of 2 hours i.e. 120 minutes. SSC CGL Marking Scheme Tier 2

The SSC CGL marking scheme as per the SSC CGL paper pattern is as follows:

  • In Paper 2 (English Language and Comprehension), 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer, whereas, in other subjects, 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • No marks deduction for unattempted questions in SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2022 For Tier 3

Candidates who clear Tier 2 exam will qualify for Tier 3 which is a written exam. As per the latest SSC CGL pattern, Tier 3 is a descriptive exam held in pen and paper mode, aimed at evaluating the writing skills of the candidates in the English/Hindi language. SSC CGL Marking Scheme Tier 3

The marking scheme of SSC CGL Tier 3 as per the SSC CGL paper pattern is as follows:

  • Candidates have to attempt this paper either in English or Hindi. Candidates who use both languages in this exam will be awarded 0 marks.
  • The letter writing and précis writing often carry 20-30 marks and the essay writing carries 50 marks. This is not definite and subject to change.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern Tier 4

Candidates who clear the first three tiers of the SSC CGL will be qualified to take the Tier-4 exam. This is a skill test designed to evaluate the computer proficiency skills of the candidate. This exam is qualifying in nature and is only conducted for certain posts, meaning, only where it is applicable.

There are two steps involved in the SSC CGL exam pattern of Tier 4:

Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)

This test evaluates the typing skills of the candidate. Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes in the English language. The test is conducted for those aiming at the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax).

Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) 

This test is conducted to check a candidate’s proficiency in computer operations and is divided into three sections - Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Generation of Slides. For each section, the duration of the test is 15 minutes and these tests happen one after another.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern FAQs

  • The SSC CGL exam pattern 2022 is divided into 4 Tiers: Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4. Tier 1 and 2 are Computer-Based Tests (CBT) to test the knowledge of candidates in some specific domains like Mathematics, Reasoning, Basic English, Economics, etc. Tier 3 is a descriptive paper conducted through pen and paper mode. It is to examine the writing skills of the candidates in the chosen language (English/Hindi). Candidates who will qualify Tier 3 will be called for a skill test in Tier 4.

  • As per the latest SSC CGL exam pattern shared by the commission, 0.50 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer in Tier 1. In Tier 2, 0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in all subjects except English in which 0.25 marks will be deducted from your scores for each incorrect answer.

  • As per the official SSC CGL exam pattern, Tier 2 is a computer-based test and is divided into four papers- Quantitative Abilities, English, Statistics, and General Studies (Finance and Economics). It comprises 500 questions and each paper in this Tier has to be completed in 2 hours.

  • The exam pattern of SSC CGL Tier 1 consists of 100 questions from 4 different subjects, 25 questions from each subject. The subjects include Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Candidates have to solve all the questions within a time frame of 60 minutes.
