SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2021: Highlights

Here are some important points regarding SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria which are listed below:

  • There is no minimum percentage requirement in SSC CGL Exam, candidates with simple graduation passing certificate are eligible to apply
  • Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply provided they must produce the passing certificate and mark sheet within the specified date mentioned by the SSC board
  • Candidates must also note that degree obtained through open university or distance education must be recognised from a Distance Education Bureau (DEB). DEB recognised institutes include Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal (Deemed to be University), Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune (Deemed to be University), etc. Check the complete list of DEB recognised institutes here
  • Candidates living outside India are also eligible to apply provided they have Indian citizenship
  • The minimum and maximum age limit for General category candidates are 18 years and 32 years, respectively. Reserved category candidates also get an age relaxation, the details of which are mentioned in the article below

Candidates seeking to get the desired post must fulfil the essential educational qualification as mentioned below:

SSC CGL 2021 Nationality

Candidates applying for SSC CGL must be a resident of Indian territory with a valid ID proof to substantiate it. However, the following candidates are also eligible to apply:

  • Tibetan refugee who moved to India before 1962, to settle down permanently in India
  • A person of India origin who has moved from Pakistan, Burma, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with intention of settling down permanently in India
  • The subject of Nepal or Bhutan

SSC CGL Age Limit 2021

Candidates must be within the age limit of the specific post to be eligible for that post. The present age is calculated from the date of birth mentioned in Class 10 and Class 12 board certificate. The details regarding age limit as per the group and posts are listed below:

As per the SSC board, different physical fitness and standards are required for different posts. The post-wise details on physical standards for both males and females are provided below:

NOTE: For the post of Inspector Central Excise, Examiner and Preventive Officer, persons with disabilities need to meet the physical standards i.e. Height, Chest and Weight prescribed for the post of Inspectors, Central Excise, Examiner and Preventive Officer in CBEC. However, for orthopedically disabled candidates the following relaxation in Physical Test is allowed:

(a) The test of “Walking” shall not be insisted in case of OL and OAL categories

(b) The test of “Cycling” shall not be insisted in case of OA, OL and OAL categories
