Tips to solve and prepare for discrimination questions

You must know all the discrimination tricks for SSC exams for solving these questions easily. You can take up a discrimination quiz for SSC exams and try using these tricks to solve the paper. Some common tricks to solve these questions are:

1- Squares: The arrangement of squares can be done in several ways. In some ways, the number of rows is equal to the number of columns, while the grid created in other cases might have different numbers of rows or columns. In the first case, just square the numbers given to the rows and add them. For eg: If your grid has 4 rows and 4 columns, the answer would be given by:

12+22+32+42

However, if you take a 5x4 grid, use the formula given above and just add the numbers from the larger of the two numbers till one For eg:

12+22+32+42+5+4+3+2+1

Refer to discrimination questions and answers pdf for SSC exams

2- Rectangle: Solving these questions is even easier. You just have to number the rows and columns and then add the number of rows like:

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10

And then do the same thing with columns.

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15

Multiply the numbers you got as sums for rows and columns. That will give you the answer. In this case, 10 X 15 = 150 would be the answer.

You can make these tricks a part of your discrimination notes for SSC exams. This will help you in recalling these formulas while you are revising. There will be multiple cases where these techniques won't be applicable. In that case, start counting manually. Sometimes, multiple images would be fused to confuse you.
