1. Make do with : to manage (काम चलाना)

Eg:  There was no juice so I had to make do with soft drink which I generally avoid.

2. Make for : to result in/ to cause (किसी बात में सहायक होना)

Eg: The low quality of service made for failure of project. (गुणवत्ता में कमी, प्रोजेक्ट के असफल होने का कारण बनी)

3. Make out : to manage to understand (किसी व्यक्ति या चीज को समझना)

Eg:  Manager is trying to make out the concept of new project proposed by me.

4. Make the most of : to get maximum (पूरा पूरा लाभ उठाना)

Eg: The smart person always makes the most of every situation that comes his way.

5. Occur to : to understand (समझ में आना)

Eg: Physics never occurs to me, however I try a lot to understand it.

6. Part with : to leave/ abandon (बिछड़ना / त्यागना वस्तु के सन्दर्भ में )

Eg:  You need to part with your some luggage as it is creating extra load in car.

7. Part from : leave or separate form someone (किसी व्यक्ति से अलग होना या बिछड़ना)

Eg:   Reena parted from her boyfriend after five year’s long relationship.

8. Pull off : to succeed in doing something difficult (किसी मुश्किल काम को करने में सफल होना)

Eg:  It was almost impossible to conveyance my father for my Udaipur trip but finally we have   pulled off.

9. Pull up : to criticize (आलोचना करना)

Eg:  My aunt is in the habit of pulling up others without any reason.

10. Put across : to communicate successfully (समझोता आदि के लिए बातचीत करना)

Eg: Pakistan and China put across on the issue of their new upcoming project.

11. Put aside : to save for future or to avoid (भविष्य के लिए बचाना या उपेक्षा करना)

Eg: It is always advised to put aside some money by our parents. (भविष्य के लिए बचाना)

Eg: Rohan put aside all the bottlenecks while preparing for IAS exam. (नजरंदाज किया)

12. Put up with : to tolerate (सहन करना)

Eg:  We should never put up with wrong doings of unsocial elements.

13. Put forth : to request (निवेदन करना)

eg: We had to put forth to authority to consider our application first.

14. Put together : to put someone in trouble or to create or construct (किसी को परेशानी में डालना/ बनाना)

Eg: Reena always puts together me with her pranks.  (परेशानी में डाल देती हैं)

Eg: The manager has put together separate team for every task. (मैनेजर ने सभी कार्य के लिए अलग टीम बनायीं हैं)

15. Put down : to suppress or criticize (दमन करना या आलोचना करना)

Eg: The mettle king put down his enemy bravely. (शत्रुओ का दमन किया)

16. Put off : to postpone (स्थगित करना)

Eg: Karan had to put off his holiday trip due to busy schedule of office.

17. Put on : to wear clothes/ gain weight (कपडे पहनना या वजन का बढ़ना)

Eg: Children don’t like putting on woolen clothes even in extreme winter. (भरी सर्दी में भी ऊनी कपडे पहनना पसंद नही करते)

Eg: Sheela has put on so she is not able to be fit in her old dresses. (वजन बढ़ गया हैं)

18. Put out : to extinguish (बुझाना)

Eg: At last, fire brigade arrived and put out the fire.

19. Put through : to make someone feel something unpleasant (किसी को परेशानी में डालना)

Eg:  Seema is very childish in nature, she always puts through others.

20. Run down : to criticize / to decline (आलोचना करना / कमजोर पड़ना)

Eg: Don’t run down your brother in public, it will definitely annoy him. (आलोचना मत करो)

Eg: Due to low quality of service, the rating of this product has run down. (रेटिंग कम हो गयी हैं)

21. Run into (problem) : to face (समस्या में पड जाना)

Eg: I just wanted to help him, but I didn’t know I would run into this pathetic situation.

22. Run into : to meet by chance (अचानक मुलाकात होना)

Eg: It was really unexpected to run into my old college friend in market.

23. Run over : to crush by a vehicle (वाहन से कुचलना)

Eg: Yesterday, My grandmother was run over by a car in street.

24. Set about : to initiate effort (प्रयास प्रारंभ करना)

Eg: Vikas is very sincere for his career, he set about his IAS exam in graduation period.

25. Set up : to establish (स्थापित करना)

Eg: Coal India has set up one of its branches in Dhanbad.

26. Sit around/about : to spend time without any activity (खाली बैठना)

Eg: My brother is so careless. He neither studies nor works.  He just sits around.

27. Smile on : to bless (भाग्य का किसी पर प्रसन्न होना)

Eg:  Destiny has smiled on Tanmay as he has cracked exam without preparing for it.
