Answer: C– The discharge will be the same through each pipe
For pipes connected in series, the discharge will be the same through each pipe.
Solution:
If several pipes are connected in series, the flow will be continuous without any branching. By the law of conservation of mass, the rate of flow in all the pipes will be equal, i.e., for pipes connected in series, the discharge will be the same through each pipe.
Q = Q1= Q2 = Q3 = Q4 = Q5
The total head will be the sum of the heads of all the pipes.
h = h1+ h2+h3+ h4+h5
But for pipes in parallel, the total discharge will be the sum of the discharge in each pipe, and the heads will remain the same.
