IES ME Eligibility Criteria - Nationality

The first and foremost IES eligibility criteria for Mechanical Engineering is nationality. Candidate must be an either be:

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Nepal, or
  3. a subject of Bhutan, or
  4. An Indian origin person who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, the United Republic of Tanzania, Sri Lanka, or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam and permanently settled in India.
  5. Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, and has settled permanently in India

However, if you belong to either 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, then you must have a certificate of eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

IES ME Eligibility Criteria - Educational Qualification

Candidates must fulfill any one of the following educational qualifications to apply for the ESE ME 2023 exam. If you are in your final year of engineering, then you can apply for the ESE ME 2023 exam. However, you will be required to produce the qualifying certificate while filling up the DAF application form.

  • You must have obtained a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
  • You must have passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India)
  • You must have obtained a Degree or Diploma in Engineering from a foreign university/college/institution and such university must be recognized by the government for the purpose from time to time
  • You must have passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India)
  • You must have passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/ Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India
  • If you wish to apply for the Indian Naval Armament Service must have either an M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

IES ME Age Relaxation for Govt. Servants

According to the IES Mechanical Engineering eligibility criteria 2023, the upper age limit is relaxable up to 35 years for government servants who are employed in any one of the following categories. If they are employed in a Department/ Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/Post(s) mentioned in column 2, for which they are otherwise eligible.
