IES Mechanical Engineering 2023: Notification, 2022 Interview Dates

IES 2023 Notification is released. Interview dates for ESE ME 2022 are released. The IES Mechanical Engineering 2023 Preliminary exam is expected to take place on 19 February 2023, and the Mains exam is declared to take place on 25 June 2023. The IES Mechanical Engineering Prelims and Mains exam will be conducted for two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 along with an interview session whose date will be announced later by the officials.

ESE IES Official Notification 2023

The officials have released the interview dates per the roll number of the selected candidates. The interview process for ME candidates starts on 12 December 2022 and will be conducted till 15 December 2022. The entire schedule can be downloaded from the link provided below:

ESE IES Mechanical Engineering Application form 2023 has been released on the official UPSC website for students to fill out. The process starts on 14 September 2022 and ends on 4 October 2022.

ESE ME Application Fee 2022

The candidates willing to apply for the IES Mechanical Engineering 2023 can pay the required application fee per their category. You must pay the ESE ME 2023 Application Fee either by visiting any branch of SBI or using the net banking/ Visa/ Mastercard/ RuPay/ Credit/ Debit Card facility.

• Women, SC, ST, and PWD candidates: Exempted
• Other Candidates: Rs. 200/-

Before you proceed to apply for the UPSC ESE ME 2023, you must know the eligibility criteria for it. The IES Mechanical Engineering eligibility criteria include the Age Limit and Educational Qualification as we have described below.

UPSC ESE ME Educational Qualification 

You must fulfil ANY ONE of the following eligibility criteria to apply for the ESE ME 2023 exam:

• Degree in Engineering from a recognized university.
• Passed sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).
• Degree or Diploma in Engineering from a foreign university.college.institution and such university must be recognized by the government for the purpose from time to time.
• Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
• Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.

Age Limit for UPSC ESE ME

The candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on January 1, 2023.

Age Relaxation for UPSC ESE ME

The upper age limit will be relaxable up to 35 years for the government servants in any one of the following categories. If they are employed in a Department/ Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/Post(s) mentioned in column 2, for which they are otherwise eligible.

The upper age limit is further relaxable for the following category of candidates as well:

UPSC ESE ME Nationality

The candidate applying for the UPSC ESE ME 2023 must be either of the following:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India

The certificate must be issued by the Government of India for the (b),(c), (d), (e) categories listed above.

The ESE IES Mechanical Engineering 2023 selection process comprises the following stages:

1. ESE Prelims Exam/ Stage I: Objective Paper
2. ESE Mains Exam/ Stage II: Conventional Paper
3. ESE Interview/ Personality Test

The candidates will have to clear the stage of the examination by obtaining the required Cutoff score to be eligible for an appointment in an office. The final selection will be made by totalling the marks obtained by you in the ESE ME Prelims, Mains, and Personality Test.

The Engineering Services Examination for ME will take place in three stages for which the exam pattern has been given below.

ESE ME Prelims Exam Pattern

This is the first stage of the ESE recruitment process. The IES Mechanical Engineering 2023 Prelims marks will be considered for preparing the merit list as well.

• All the questions in the ESE Prelims exam will be objective in nature.
• 1/3rd marks will be deducted for every wrong answer marked by you.
• The paper for ESE will be set only in the English language.
• The ESE General Studies and Engineering Aptitude will include Knowledge of relevant topics as may be expected from an engineering graduate, without special study
• There will be two papers for the ESE 2023 exam.
• The first paper will be General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Paper that will be common for all the engineering disciplines.
• The second paper will be an engineering discipline paper. For ESE ME, it will have questions pertaining to Mechanical Engineering only.
• The maximum mark for IES Mechanical Engineering 2023 prelims exam is 500 marks with a duration of 5 hours.

IES Mechanical Engineering 2023 Mains Exam Pattern

The candidates who secure the cutoff decided by the UPSC as per their category will be selected to proceed to the main exam. 

• The ESE Mains Paper will have two papers.
• Each ESE ME paper will be a conventional-type paper.
• Each paper will be of a duration of 3 Hours of 300 marks.
• The medium of the Mains exam paper will be English only.

ESE ME Personality Test 2023

After the successful completion of the Prelims and Mains exam, candidates have to pass the comprehensive personality screening test which is also known as the interview round.

The IES ME admit cards will be released on the official UPSC portal and students/candidates can download ESE admit card 2023 by visiting the official site of UPSC. You need to enter your registration number and password to download the IES Mechanical Engineering Admit Card 2023. The ESE Admit Card for UPSC ESE ME Prelims, Mains and Interview rounds are released separately.

IES Mechanical Engineering result 2023 will be released by UPSC on their website. Candidates can refer to the ESE ME result PDF and check their roll numbers. Candidates who have their roll numbers present in the IES Mechanical Engineering result PDF will be qualified for the next round. The results will be published only on the official website of UPSC for each stage of the exam separately.

• Candidates who will obtain the Prelims cutoff marks will be able to download ESE ME Mains admit card.
• Similarly, those who will clear the Mains exam will be issued the Interview or Personality Test admit card 2023.
• Finally, a final result will be declared on the basis of the marks secured by you in each stage of the ESE ME selection process.
