BITS Admission 2021-22: Important Dates

BITS Admission HD Programs

For the academic year 2021–2022, BITS Pilani is accepting applications for its four-semester on-campus M.E. / M.Pharm. and three-semester M.Phil. Higher Degree (HD) programmes. Admissions are now open for the following programmes at BITS Pilani’s Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses:

BITS HD Application Process

• Candidates who are interested and eligible should fill out the application form.
• It is not necessary to send a hard copy of the application form.
• Candidates are urged, however, to print the completed form and keep a copy with them for future reference.
• Candidates must indicate their preferences for the programmes they desire to apply for when filling out the online application form. Please see the eligibility conditions for each programme.
• Candidates who desire to be considered for admission through GATE/GPAT must provide their GATE score (year of GATE examination, GATE All India Rank, and GATE Score) or GPAT score when filling out the application form.

BITS HD 2021 Admission Procedure

Admission to all M.E. (excluding Software Systems) and M.Pharm. programmes will be determined by the results of the BITS HD admission test or the GATE/GPAT score. The BITS HD test will be used to determine admission to the M.E. in Software Systems programme. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a test and interview for admission to the M.Phil. programme.
Interested individuals must apply online and adhere to all deadlines. Candidates will be asked to rank their preferences for the many programmes available while applying online. Additionally, the candidate must choose one of the following options:

• Admission will be based only on GATE/GPAT scores: Only GATE 2021, GATE 2020, or GATE 2019 scores will be considered for admission to M.E. programmes. GPAT 2021, GPAT 2020, or GPAT 2019 scores, on the other hand, will only be considered for admission to the M.Pharm programme. To be considered for admission, candidates must guarantee that their GATE/GPAT scores are valid. This validity, as stated on the GATE/GPAT scorecard, must be included in the application.
• Admission is only considered based on the results of the BITS HD online test.

• Admission is based on the GATE/GPAT score as well as the marks obtained in the BITS HD online test.

Details of BITS HD 2021 Online Test

• The online tests will be conducted on 2nd and 9th August 2021 and the candidates can choose the centre to take the test.
• Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark

The Online test would be conducted in the following phases:

• Test 1
  • Compulsory for all students who are applying for any of the higher degree programs of the Institute and
  • It will consist of Core Mathematics (15 questions) & English Language Skills & Logical Reasoning (15 questions) 
  • Duration of Test: 45 Minutes

• Test 2
  • Compulsory for Students applying for all higher degree programs except those who are applying for only Sanitation Science, Technology and Management and M.E. in Software systems
  • The Test 2 subject for a student is based on his/her qualifying degree program consisting of 70 Questions to be answered in 105 mins

• Test for Software Systems
  • This Special aptitude test for Software Systems is required for only those students who are applying for M.E. Software systems.
  • Candidates have to answer 60 questions in 50 minutes.
• Test for M.E. Sanitation Science, Technology and Management
  • This special test for Sanitation Science, Technology and Management is required for only those students who are applying for M.E. Sanitation Science Technology and Management
  • Candidates have to answer 60 questions in 50 minutes.

BITS HD 2021 Application Fee

• Candidates who wish to be considered through GATE/GPAT score only: ₹ 1000
• All other candidates including the fee for BITS HD online test: ₹ 3300

Financial Assistance 

• Candidates admitted through GATE / GPAT will be eligible for a tuition fee waiver of ₹ 13,400 per month over and above the GATE / GPAT scholarship that they will receive.
• All other students admitted to the HD programme will be eligible for a stipend of ₹ 13,400 per month.
• The fee waiver/stipend will be in lieu of 6 – 8 hrs. of work per week.

BITS HD 2021 Cutoff

BITS does not provide any official cutoff for higher degree admission. The number of seats are filled based upon:

• The total number of qualifying candidates.
• Capacity of various campuses in the different program
• GATE/GPAT & BITS Online Test Score

There is no official cutoff list declared by the institute as the admissions are purely based on merit. Therefore, the cutoff is not constant and varies every year accordingly.
