Critical pressure of a liquid is the pressure___________.
- Above which liquid will remain liquid
- Above which liquid will become gas
- Above which liquid becomes vapour
- Above which liquid becomes solid
Table of content
Answer: 3. Above which liquid becomes vapour
The critical pressure of a liquid is the pressure above which liquid becomes vapor.
Solution:
It is described as the pressure/temperature at which a liquid transforms into a vapour with no distinction between the liquid and gaseous phases. Zero degrees of freedom exist at critical pressure. The dryness fraction becomes undefined and latent heat decreases to zero at a critical pressure. Hence critical pressure of a liquid is the pressure above which liquid becomes vapour.
