Quantitative Aptitude For Bank Exams

Every year, the State Bank of India and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conduct various recruitment examinations, among which SBI PO & IBPS PO are considered the most coveted among banking aspirants across the country. The syllabus of the SBI PO & IBPS PO exams is mostly similar to the other banking exams. These exams are three-tier exams:

  • Preliminary Exam – Online Written Test
  • Main Exam – Online Written Test
  • Group Discussion & Personal Interview

Note: The Third tier of the SBI PO exam consists of both Group Discussion & Personal Interview while IBPS PO only conducts Interviews.

Quantitative Aptitude Exam Pattern for SBI PO and IBPS PO

Quantitative Aptitude Syllabus For Arithmetic 

If your concepts are clear, then you can quickly answer these questions with some practice. SBI PO quantitative aptitude syllabus for the Arithmetic section consists of topics given below:

Preliminary: This is the exam of speed, and most of the questions asked at this level of the examination are tend to range between easy to moderate. Questions asked are generally easy to solve and formula-based, and not much calculation is involved.

Mains: At this tier, the questions become difficult to challenging, as this is the examination of your capacity. A firm grasp and clarity of arithmetic concepts and good calculation speed are essential to ace the main exam. The questions generally involve complex calculations, 3-4 variables, and a mix of concepts—Example-A question of a partnership involving percentage and profit and loss.

Quantitative Aptitude Syllabus For Data Analysis and Interpretation

A higher level of understanding of data analysis concepts as well as calculation speed is necessary to perform well in the exam. The following types of DI are generally asked in the SBI PO quantitative aptitude & IBPS PO exam.

Mains: The level of DI increases dramatically in the SBI PO quantitative aptitude section of mains exam. Most of the questions asked here are based on arithmetic-based data interpretation. Example-DI based on the upstream and downstream speed of a boat or A case based on mixture and allegation.

Quant Syllabus For Miscellaneous

The questions asked on topics mentioned here are generally easy and do not require much calculation to solve. Following are the miscellaneous topics asked in the SBI PO quantitative aptitude syllabus

Preliminary: Approximation and Simplification are usually asked in the prelim exam only. The level of Number Series, data sufficiency is also easy to moderate. Generally, a set of root comparisons of Quadratic Equations is asked in the prelim exam.

Mains: The questions are generally tough and time-consuming and require effort to solve. The problems based on number series can be very complex. Similarly, data sufficiency and quantity comparison generally contain three statements.
