IBPS RRB Selection process might be viewed as a risk management procedure that helps organizations to avoid hiring unsuitable applicants. It is important to recognize that there is much variability in work performance that is not directly related to selection scores.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Selection Procedure - Prelims Examination

1. Preliminary Exam

  • The prelims exam is an objective test that will be conducted online.
  • Only two sections will be asked in the Prelims exam which are Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. IBPS RRB Officer Scale I is a test of 80 marks and 45 minutes total duration.
  • There is no sectional time limit in IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Prelims Exam.
  • Prelims Exam is qualifying in nature and marks obtained in it will not be considered for the final selection.

How will the candidate be shortlisted for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Main Exam 2021 -

  • The candidates appearing in IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Prelims Exam are required to secure minimum cut-off marks to be eligible for Main Exam
  • An adequate number of candidates in each category, depending upon requirements, will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination

IBPS RRB Office Assistant Selection Process - Prelims Examination

For the posts of Office Assistants (Multipurpose), the examination will take place in two-tier i.e. the online examination will be held in two phases, preliminary and main. Candidates who apply for the post of Office Assistants (Multipurpose) will be provisionally allotted on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the Main examination and the total number of vacancies reported by the RRBs. Now, let’s quickly recall the exam pattern-

Preliminary Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 80 marks with the duration of 45 minutes and it will be conducted online.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale 1 Selection Process - Main Examination

  • The main exam will consist of 200 questions for 200 marks. Candidates will be given 120 minutes (2 hours) to attempt all questions. The Test will be conducted in online mode.
  • A candidate can choose either the English Language or Hindi Language Test. 
  • There is no sectional time limit in IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Main Exam.
  • Marks obtained in Main Exam will be considered to shortlist candidates for the Interview and final merit list.

How will the candidate be shortlisted for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Interview Process -

  • Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each section of the Online Main examination to be considered to be shortlisted for an interview
  • Depending on the number of vacancies available, an adequate number of candidates in each category not exceeding three times of the declared vacancies in each state shall be called for the interview, subject to availability

IBPS RRB Office Assistant Selection Process - Mains Examination

The main examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks. The Tests will be conducted online. Candidates will have to take one language test i.e English/ Hindi and it will be optional.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale 1 Selection Process - Interview

  • Candidates who have been shortlisted in the  IBPS RRB main examination for the post of Officers Scale I will be subsequently called for the Interview Procedure.
  • The total marks allotted for the Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks/scores in the interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC / ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
  • The relative weight (ratio) of CWE and interview will be 80:20 respectively for Officer Scale - I.
  • The combined final score of candidates will be decided on the basis of scores obtained in the Online Mains Examination and Interview.

IBPS RRB Local Language Proficiency Test

  • Candidates who have already studied the language of the State in standard VIII or any level above standard VIII in Government recognized Boards of Education/ School or having any certificate to the effect for standard VIII or any level above standard VIII would be considered proficient in that local language.
  • If a candidate does not fulfil the above required criteria, he/she will be given a time of six months from the date of joining to acquire the local language proficiency. 
  • This six months period can be extended by the Boards of RRBs within the framework of the rules and provided that such an extension should not be beyond the probation period.

IBPS RRB Final Allotment 2021

  • On completion of the interview process, shortlisted candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of the RRBs, based on merit-cum-preference keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, administrative exigency, etc.
  • The allotment will be done depending on the vacancies to be filled in as per the business needs of the RRBs and as reported to IBPS.
  • No change in the data already registered by the candidate in the online application form is possible.
