SBI PO Selection Process 2021

SBI PO 2021 exam notification will be announced soon. Candidates going to enroll for the examination must know the SBI PO selection process in order to strategize for the recruitment. The standards under the SBI PO selection procedure are defined by the officials of the State Bank of India.

It is mandatory for all the candidates to successfully clear each and every stage under the SBI PO selection procedure in order to grab the desired position of Probationary Officer in SBI. Here we discussed the detailed selection criteria of the SBI PO 2021 exam to assist you to apprehend the recruitment structure.

SBI PO Selection Stages

There is a total of 3 phases in which the recruitment process of SBI PO is carried out viz. 

  • Phase I- Preliminary (Prelims) Exam, 
  • Phase II- Main Exam & 
  • Phase III- Group Exercise and Interview

SBI PO Selection Process 2021 - Phase 1

The Prelims exam date of SBI PO 2021 will be declared along with the official notification. It is the first phase of the SBI PO Recruitment. This Exam is an online objective test of 100 marks and 60 Minutes duration in which a total of 100 questions will be asked.

  • There is a sectional timing of 20 Minutes for each section
  • There will be no sectional Cutoff in Prelims Exam

How will the candidates get selected in SBI PO Mains Exam 2021 for further process?

  • The candidates will be shortlisted for Main Examination from a list of the total number of candidates who appeared for the Prelim Examination 
  • The number of candidates to be shortlisted for SBI PO Mains will be decided by the SBI based on the vacancies available. In each category, the number of candidates to be selected for the next phase (Main Examination) will be approximately 10 times the number of total vacancies.
  • The Marks obtained in the Prelim Exam will not be added anywhere in the selection procedure. 

SBI PO Selection Process 2021 - Phase 2

This is the second phase of the SBI PO Recruitment 2021. The candidates who will clear the Main Examination will be moved further to the GE and Interview round. 

The Main Examination will consist of both, the Objective and the Descriptive Test. The objective test will be of 200 marks and Descriptive Test will carry a total of 50 marks. Both the tests will be conducted online. Candidates have to answer the Descriptive test by typing on their keyboards. Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after completion of the Objective Test.

Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).

How will the candidates get selected for SBI PO 2021 GE & Interview process?

  • Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Main Examination
  • Candidates numbering up to 3 times (approximately) of the category wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise & Interview from the top of the merit list, subject to a candidate scoring a minimum qualifying score in aggregate

SBI PO Selection Process 2021 - Phase 3

  • Group Discussion will be of 20 Marks
  • An interview will be of 30 Marks
  • Candidates qualifying for GD & Interview under the 'OBC' category would be required to submit an OBC certificate containing the 'Non-Creamy layer' clause. Candidates not submitting the OBC certificate containing the 'Non Creamy layer' clause and requesting to be interviewed under the General category will not be entertained.

SBI PO Final Selection

  • The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection.
  • Only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in GE & Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list. The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. 
  • Marks secured by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25.
  • The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Main Examination and Group Exercises & Interview out of 100
  • The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category
  • Results of the candidates who qualify for the Main Examination and Group Exercise & Interview as well as the final select list will be made available on the Bank's website.
