The skip distance does not depend upon
- The power transmitted
- Type of wave propagation
- The angle of beaming of the wave
- Frequency of the signal transmitted
Answer – B. type of wave propagation
The skip distance does not depend upon a type of wave propagation.
Solution
Skip distance is the maximum distance a wave transmitted from the earth’s surface can reach after being refracted from different ionosphere layers.
The skip distance formula is given as –
Dskip= 2h√(f2 / f2 c -1)
The skip distance depends on the wave frequency and hence also on the power transmitted.
The skip distance also depends on the transmitting and receiving antenna’s height, hence also on the angle transmitted.
It does not depend on the type of wave propagation.
Therefore, the answer to the question of The skip distance does not depend upon the type of wave propagation.
Hence, Option (B) is correct.
