ESE IES ECE 2023: Notification, Exam Date, Interview Dates

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the IES ECE 2023 notification on its official website. Candidates can download the notification brochure exam from the direct link given below.

Earlier, UPSC released the ESE ECE exam date 2023 on the official website. Candidates can work as Class 1 officers in the government of India after clearing the ESE IES ECE 2023 exam. The schedule for the ESE IES 2023 is given below:

The ESE examination is also known as the Indian Engineering Services (IES). The selection process for the UPSC ESE IES 2023 for Electronics and Communication comprises three stages, Prelims, Mains, and Personality Test/Interview. The candidates will have to undergo each round to be eligible for an appointment in the service.

The Union Public Service Commission has released the IES ECE 2022 interview dates. The interview/ personality test will start on 17 October 2022, and the last date for the interview is 10 November 2022. The candidates shortlisted after the Prelims and Mains exam will be called for the Personality Test (Interview). The UPSC released the ESE ECE 2023 Notification on 14 September 2022. The important dates for the IES 2023 exam have been notified as given below:

The online applications for the ESE IES 2023 exam are open to being filled out now. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria could apply by visiting the official site. Here are the steps to apply for the UPSC ESE Electronics and Communication 2023 Exam.

• Step 1: Visit the official site, click on the link, "Apply for Engineering Services Examination 2023 Exam", and click on Part I for registration.
• Step 2: In "Part I" of the registration process, register by providing your basic details.
• Step 3: Upload the scanned copy of the documents.
• Step 4: A registration number will be sent to your registered email ID and contact number.
• Step 5: Log in with the registration number, date of birth, and captcha, or proceed from the last step.
• Step 6: Provide other details such as your educational qualification, communication address, etc.
• Step 7: Lastly, pay the required amount of the application fee as per your category.
• Step 8: The last step is confirmation that all your details are true.
• Step 9: Take a printout of the application form for further use.

Application Fee for ESE IES ECE 2023

The application fee for the UPSC ESE ECE 2023 application form can be paid online, i.e., by net banking, debit/credit card/UPI, or any other mode. You can also pay the application fee in offline mode as well. Here is the application fee that has to be paid for ESE ECE 2023 exam.

• Other Candidates: ₹ 200/-
• Women, SC, ST, and PWD candidates: Exempted

ESE ECE Educational Qualification

You must fulfill ANY ONE of the following eligibility criteria to apply for the ESE EC 2023 exam.

• Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognized University.
• Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of Engineers (India).
• Degree or Diploma in Engineering from a foreign university/college/institution and such university must be recognized by the government for the purpose from time to time.
• Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
• Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
• Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London, held after November 1959.

ESE Nationality

The candidate applying for the UPSC ESE ECE 2023 must be either of the following:

1. A citizen of India, or
2. A subject of Nepal, or
3. A subject of Bhutan, or
4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India, or
5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam to permanently set in India.

If you belong to any of the above categories for the (b),(c), (d), and (e) categories listed above, then a certificate must be issued by the Government of India.

ESE ECE Age Limit

The age limit to apply online for the UPSC ESE 2023 exam as of 1st January 2023 is as follows:

• Minimum Age Limit: 21 Years
• Maximum Age Limit: 30 Years

Age Relaxations for ESE 2023 Exam

Candidates are given relaxation in age limit as per their categories listed below:

Age Relaxation for Government Employees

The upper age limit is relaxable up to 35 years for government servants in any one of the following categories. If they are employed in a Department/ Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/Post(s) mentioned in column 2, for which they are otherwise eligible. 

For ESE IES ECE 2023, candidates will be selected based on the below-given stages:

• Stage I: Preliminary Examination: Objective in nature
• Stage II: Mains Examination: Conventional Paper
• Stage III: Personlity Test/ Interview

You must clear each stage of the ESE ECE 2023 Examination to be eligible for an appointment. Further, the final merit list will be made based on the marks secured by you in the Prelims, Mains, and Interview.

ESE ECE 2023 Prelims Exam Pattern

• All the questions in the ESE Prelims Exam will be objective consisting of four alternatives for answering every question.
• 1/3rd marks will be deducted for every wrong answer marked by you.
• The medium of the paper for ESE will be set only in the English language.
• The ESE General Studies and Engineering Aptitude will include questions of knowledge of relevant topics, as expected from an Engineering graduate without special study.
• There will be two papers for the ESE 2022 exam, Paper I and Paper II.
• The first paper will be General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Paper, which will be common for all Engineering disciplines.
• The second paper will be an engineering discipline paper. ESE ECE, it will have questions about Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering only.
• The maximum mark for the ESE EC prelims Exam is 500, lasting 5 hours.

ESE ECE 2023 Mains Exam Pattern

The ESE ECE 2023 Mains Exam Pattern is as follows.

• All the questions in the ESE ECE Mains Exam will be conventional.
• There are two papers for the ESE ECE Paper, Paper I and Paper II.
• Each ESE IES ECE paper will be of 3 Hours of 300 marks.
• All the questions will be set only in English, and thus, they demand to be answered in English.
• Further, a penalty of 5% Marks out of the total marks will be deducted in case your handwriting is illegible.

UPSC will release the admit card for ESE ECE 2023 for Prelims and Mains before the examination. All the candidates who qualify successfully for the ESE ECE 2023 Prelims exam will be issued Admit Card for the ESE Mains Exam. Candidates can download the hall ticket for the ESE ECE exam from the official website. On the other hand, candidates qualifying for the Prelims Exam will be issued an admit card for the Mains Exam. Another admit card will be issued to those candidates who will appear for the Personality Test or Interview for the UPSC ESE 2023.
