• Signal Processing and Communication: Image processing and pattern recognition, speech and audio processing, wireless communication and networks, Algorithms for communication networks, RF and Microwaves.
• Power Engineering:  Power Electronics and Power Systems.
• Control Systems: Control of power networks and microgrids, Mathematical control theory, Fault diagnosis.

IIT Mandi PhD Admission 2021: Eligibility Requirements

Master of Science (M.S. by research) in Engineering

• Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or Masters degree in appropriate Sciences (M.Sc) with a valid score in GATE/NET or equivalent national level examination in an appropriate discipline
• Candidates having Associate Membership by professional bodies are also eligible for admission to the M.S. by the research provided they should have a valid GATE score and should have passed both parts A and part B of the Membership examinations with a good academic record.

PhD in Engineering

• Candidates with a Master’s degree in Engineering and Technology or a Master’s degree by Research in Engineering and Technology disciplines, with a good academic record.
• Candidates with a Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and of exceptional merit with a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-JRF/ NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration. 
• Candidates who have qualified for the award of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with an exceptionally good academic record in an eligible discipline will be considered for direct admission to PhD Program as a regular full-time scholar subject to the following conditions as follows :
  • B.Tech degree from one of the IITs, with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 cgpa point scale.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Technology from any other University should be among the top 5% or 20 rank holders, declared by the University and having a valid GATE 2021 score.
  • Bachelor’s degree holder in Engineering and Technology, serving for two years or more in a reputed Research & Development organization or Industry with a proven research record.

• The Candidate has to apply online from the IIT Mandi Website from 15th March 2021.
