GATE 2024 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. GATE is the abbreviation of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is conducted yearly by either of the seven IITs and IISc Bangalore in India on a rotational basis. The examination will be conducted in various cities(219) across India. It is expected that the official notification will be released in July 2023 by IISc Bangalore.

GATE 2024 Overview

GATE 2024 notification has been released on 24 Aug 2023. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can apply for the exam by filling out the application form. The GATE exam shall be conducted in two shifts on the weekends(Saturday and Sunday) of the first and second week of February 2024. Eligible candidates will be issued admit cards to contest the exam.

GATE 2024 Eligibility Criteria

GATE eligibility criteria 2024 have been released in the official notification by the concerned authority. It will include important conditions candidates must meet to be eligible for the exam. Before submitting the application form, candidates should examine the eligibility criteria for the GATE exam carefully. The eligibility criteria include age limit, educational qualification, nationality, and other factors.

GATE Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold one of the undergraduate degrees to apply for the exam. The exam is also open to students in their third or final year of an undergraduate program. The detailed education qualification will be uploaded after the release of the official notification.

Additionally, all graduates holding degrees in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, or the arts that the government has approved are eligible to sit for the GATE 2024 exam.

GATE Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit, Pass Percentage, and Nationality

Following are the details on the nationality, pass percentage, and age limit criteria of GATE 2024:

  • Pass Percentage: There are no minimum pass percentage requirements to apply for the exam.
  • Age Limit: There is no set age limit for applying to the GATE exam.
  • Nationality: To apply for GATE 2024, candidates must be of Indian origin. Candidates from Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates are also eligible to apply for the exam.

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2024 for International Students

GATE exam is open to applicants from Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. Candidates from these countries must have completed or be in the final year or pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or equivalent.

GATE 2024 Application Form

The registration window for the GATE 2024 is opened on 30 August 2023. Eligible candidates can register by completing the GATE application form. The application form is available on the IISC Bangalore website. Candidates will be able to apply for the GATE exam online until the 29 September without any late fees and 13 October with late fees.

Steps to Fill GATE Exam Application Form

  • Visit the official website of GOAPS.
  • Exercise the registration process by filling in the required details.
  • After completing registration, open the GATE Login window.
  • Fill out the application form by entering personal details, academic details, etc.
  • Upload a photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  • Pay the exam fee through a debit card, credit card, or net banking.
  • Submit the application form and take a printout of it for future reference.

GATE Application Fee

The application fee is not transferable or refundable. The application fee can be paid by debit card, credit card, wallet, or net banking. Additional bank fees may be charged on the fee payment depending on the current norms.

GATE Exam Pattern

The exam pattern describes the basic structure of the question paper. It elucidates details on the number of questions, marks, duration, etc. The question paper shall comprise Multiple-choice (MCQ), Multiple Select (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. There is a negative marking for multiple-choice questions, but for questions with numerical answers, there is no negative marking. GATE Exam Marking Scheme

The mark distribution in papers AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH, DA and XL differs from the other papers such as General Aptitude is 15 marks, and Subjective questions are 85 marks which makes the total 100 marks.

  • For incorrect answers, 1/3 of the marks will be deducted, i.e. (0.33) for one-mark questions
  • 2/3 of the marks will be deducted, i.e. (0.66) for incorrect answers to two-mark questions.
  • For incorrect answers to NAT questions, no marks will be deducted.

GATE 2024 Admit Card

The link to download the GATE admit card will be available a few days before the exam date. Candidates who register for the GATE exam 2024 can access their admit cards from the official website. Candidates must double-check the information on their admit card, and if there is any discrepancy, they must immediately contact the helpline services. To download their GATE admit card, candidates must first enter their GOAPS Enrollment ID and password. Carry your admit card to the exam hall as it is required for entry.

GATE 2024 Answer Key

The authorities will make the answer key available a few days after the GATE 2024 exam. Candidates’ response sheets will be released before the release of the answer key. Students can calculate their probable exam score using the response sheet and GATE answer key before the results are announced. Candidates will have the opportunity to file objections to the answer key within the time frame specified. The final answer key will be made available along with the result.

GATE 2024 Result

GATE result will be released in the month of March 2024, following the release of the final answer keys. Candidates who will secure a valid score can download their GATE scorecard from the GATE official website. Please keep in mind that the scorecard of the GATE exam is only valid for three years from the date of the result announcement.

GATE 2024 Counseling

COAP will conduct admissions counseling for M.Tech. courses offered by IITs, and CCMT will conduct admissions counseling for M.Tech. Programs offered by NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and CFTIs. Eligible candidates must attend the GATE 2024 counseling as scheduled. Registration, choice filling, choice locking, seat assignment, document verification, and other stages make up the counseling process. Candidates who complete these steps successfully will be eligible for admission to the institute of their choice.
