ESE 2022 Paper Analysis: 20 February Paper 1 & Paper 2 Review

ESE 2022 Paper Analysis: The ESE exam for GS Paper I and Paper II for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics branches was successfully conducted on 20th February 2022. The ESE IES Prelims Paper I is held in the Forenoon Session (10:00 AM-12:00 PM), which is common to all branches, while the branch-specific Paper II is held in the Afternoon Session (2:00 PM-5:00 PM).

ESE 2022 Prelims Exam Pattern
The ESE Prelims Exam consists of two papers, details are listed below.
- The first level of the selection procedure is the ESE Prelims Exam. Prelims Paper I and Paper II, there are objective questions.
- The ESE Exam has a total of 500 marks.
- Paper I is the same for all candidates, while Paper-II contains questions from the core engineering subject.
- For each wrong answer marked, one-third of marks are subtracted.

ESE Paper 1 General Studies & Engineering Aptitude Analysis 2022: Highlights
- Overall Difficulty Level of ESE Paper 1 was Moderate to Difficult.
- Current Affairs had the maximum weightage of 15 marks.
- ESE Paper-1 had mostly theoretical questions in the examination this time.
- The assertion and reasoning questions were very less compared to previous years ie. 4 questions were asked in the examination.
- A new type of question (Passage type question) was asked in the examination.
- The Paper structure was very similar to the previous year paper.
- Reasoning and Engineering Mathematics has a similar weightage of 15 and 14 marks each.

ESE IES 2022 Mechanical Paper 20th February: Exam Highlights
- Technical paper of Mechanical Engineering was Moderate to Tough
- The technical paper of ESE 2022 of Mechanical this time was highly calculative and lengthy
- Maximum questions were asked from Fluid Mechanics and Machinery which carried 23 questions.
- The manufacturing and Material Science Section had 20 questions in the paper which carried 13% of the total Paper.
- Numerical and theoretical questions were equally distributed this time.
- Assertion Reasoning questions were 10 -12 this year.
- The level of questions was easy in comparison to last year’s paper.
