ESE IES Civil (CE) Exam Notification 2021

UPSC has released the ESE exam dates 2022 on the official website. Candidates can work as Class1 officers in the government of India after clearing the ESE IES exam. The schedule for the ESE IES 2022 is given below:

ESE IES CE Prelims result has been released. Candidates can check their results by logging in using their ESE IES credentials on the official website. Earlier, the ESE IES CE Mains exam date was released on the official website. Candidates can refer to the ESE IES Prelims Result PDF below. The roll numbers mentioned in the PDF have been qualified for the next round. The official notice had notified that the ESE IES CE Mains exam will be conducted on 21st November 2021. ESE IES Civil Engineering (CE) Admit Card 2021 out for download! The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) Civil Engineering (CE) Notification on its website, www.upsc.gov.in. Candidates who have passed/appeared in their CE examination from a recognized university may apply online for ESE/IES 2021 CE exam from 7th April to 27th April 2021. The total number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the ESE IES 2021 is 215. We have provided you with the ESE IES Notification PDF below.

ESE IES Final Cut Off Marks 2020

ESE IES Civil (CE) Exam is a three-stage competitive exam that each candidate has to clear in order to be appointed in several cadres/services for catering the needs of managerial and engineering works. ESE IES Exam comprises of Prelims, Mains, and Interview where you have clear each stage for the selection process. UPSC has also notified the ESE Civil Engineering Exam Date for the Prelims and Mains as well. The ESE/IES CE preliminary examination is scheduled for 18th July 2021 while the Mains examination for 10th October 2021.

All the candidates who will be applying for the UPSC ESE 2021 exam must pay the application fee as per their category. Candidates can pay the application fee by visiting any branch of SBI or using the net banking/Visa/Mastercard/RuPay/Credit/Debit Card facility. 

  • General/OBC canididates: 200/-
  • Women, SC, ST, and PWD candidates: Exempted

ESE IES CE Eligibility 2021

The ESE CE eligibility criteria require the candidates to fulfil the following criteria:

  • Nationality
  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualification

We have described each of the ESE CE Eligibility Criteria below.

ESE CE Nationality

The candidate applying for the UPSC ESE CE 2021 must be a citizen of either of the following:

(a) a citizen of India, or 

(b) a subject of Nepal, or  

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or 

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated   from  Pakistan,  Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda,  the United  Republic  of Tanzania,  Zambia, Malawi,  Zaire  and  Ethiopia  or  from  Vietnam  with  the  intention  of  permanently  setting in India

The candidates belonging to the (b),(c), (d), (e) categories listed above must have a certificate issued by the Government of India. 

ESE CE Age Limit

The minimum age limit to apply for the UPSC ESE CE is 21 years while the maximum age limit must be between 21 to 30 years on January 1, 2021. This means that you must not be born before 2nd  January, 1991 and not later than 1st January, 2000

ESE CE Educational Qualification 

You must fulfil ANY ONE of the following eligibility criteria to apply for the ESE CE 2021 Exam:

  • Degree in Engineering from a recognized university
  • Passed Sections A and B of  the Institution Examinations of the Institution  of  Engineers  (India)
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering from a foreign university or college or institution and such university must be recognized by the government for the purpose from time to time
  • Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India)
  • Passed  Associate Membership Examination  Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India
  • Candidates in their final year or who are waiting for their result of the examination are also eligible to apply for the ESE 2021 Civil Engineering Examination. 

ESE IES Civil Selection Process 2021

The selection process of IES Civil Engineering recruitment involves the following three stages: 

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination 

Stage 2: Mains Examination

Stage 3: Interview

Every candidate will have to obtain the cutoff score to be eligible for an appointment based on his/her merit. The merit list will be made on the basis of the marks secure by him/her in each stage of the ESE/IES CE Exam.

ESE CE Prelims Exam Pattern

The Prelims exam is the first stage of the recruitment process for the UPSC ESE/IES 2021 exam.

  • The questions in the ESE CE Prelims Exam are objective in nature.
  • All the questions will be set in English Language only.
  • The Prelims Exam of the ESE 2021 exam comprises of two papers, Paper I and Paper-II.
  • ESE CE Paper I will have questions that need no special study. Such questions will be common for all the engineering disciplines of the exam.
  • 1/3rd marks will be deducted for every wrong answer marked by you. Marks will also be deducted if you mark more than one option.

The ESE CE Mains Exam comprises two papers that will involve questions related to Civil Engineering only. 

  • The questions in the ESE/IES CE Mains Exam will have conventional questions.
  • If your handwriting is illegible then there is a deduction of up to 5% of the maximum marks. 
  • All the questions in the ESE CE Mains Exam will be set in English Language only.

ESE CE Personality Test

Candidates who will qualify the ESE CE Mains Exam will be called to appear for the Interview round.  

  • The ESE CE Personality test will carry a total of 200 marks.
  • In this round, the candidates will be judged on their leadership capabilities,  initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character that will be required to perform the job of a Civil Engineer in the various ministries of the Government.

ESE CE Admit Card 2021

The ESE/IES CE Admit Card has been issued by the UPSC at upsconline.nic.in. All the candidates who will appear successfully for the ESE 2021 Prelims Exam will be issued Admit Card for the ESE Prelims Exam. On the other hand, candidates qualifying for the Prelims Exam will be issued an admit card for the Mains Exam. Another admit card will be issued to those candidates who will appear for the Personality Test or Interview for the UPSC ESE 2021. Candidates need to download the ESE 2021 Admit Card by entering their Registration number and password. 

To appear for the ESE CE 2021 Exam, candidates need to carry their Admit Card, Identity Proof to the exam hall.
