IES CE Eligibility Criteria - Nationality

The candidates belonging to any one of the following are considered according to the IES eligibility criteria 2023 for Civil Engineering.

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. An Indian origin person who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, the United Republic of Tanzania, Sri Lanka, or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia, or Vietnam and permanently settled in India.
  5. Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, and has settled permanently in India.

If you belong to either 2, 3, 4, or 5, then you must have a certificate of eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

IES CE Eligibility Criteria - Age Limit

As per the IES eligibility criteria 2023 for Civil Engineering, a candidate should be within the age limit of 21 years to 30 years. Age relaxation is also provided to candidates of various categories. The following candidates will receive age relaxation as per the Govt. of India.

IES CE Eligibility Criteria - Educational Qualification

The educational qualification for IES eligibility criteria 2023 for Civil Engineering is as follows. Candidates must fulfill any one of the educational qualifications for appearing in the IES Civil Engineering examination.

  • The candidate must have obtained a Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • The candidate must have passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).
  • Candidate must have obtained a Degree or Diploma in Engineering from a foreign university/college/institution and such university must be recognized by the government for the purpose from time to time.
  • The candidate must have passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
  • Candidate must have passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
  • If a candidate wishes to apply for the Indian Naval Armament Service must have either M.Sc.degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

IES CE Eligibility Criteria - Medical Standard

According to the IES eligibility criteria 2023 for Civil Engineering a candidate must undergo a medical examination to be considered for the final selection. The official notification released by UPSC includes a set of extra instructions for candidates.

  • The candidates who will be employed as Civil Engineers in the UPSC ESE will be under medical tests.
  • The medical test for IES CE will be conducted by the Ministry of Railways.
