By BYJU'S Exam Prep

Updated on: September 25th, 2023

Uniform acceleration is the rate of change of velocity whereas non-uniform acceleration is the average force which is applied on an object in a specific direction.

Uniform Acceleration

Non-Uniform acceleration

If an object experiences an equal rise in velocity over an equal period of time, it is said to travel with uniform acceleration.

For uniform acceleration, the velocity-time graph is linear.

If an object’s velocity changes by uneven amounts across equal time intervals, it is said to have non-uniform acceleration.

A curving line represents the velocity-time graph for non-uniform acceleration.

For uniform acceleration, the velocity-time graph is linear.

A curving line represents the velocity-time graph for non-uniform acceleration.

For example, An object in free fall experiences uniform acceleration.

Examples: all circular motion patterns in which the direction changes at each point while the speed remains constant.

Major Between Uniform Acceleration and Non Uniform Acceleration

1) The average acceleration that an object receives throughout the course of a time period is referred to as uniform acceleration. Over the same time span, the acceleration has a consistent amplitude and direction.

2) In contrast, non uniform acceleration describes the application of force over a predetermined amount of time. While the direction of non uniform acceleration is always constant during the same time period, the degree of the acceleration can alter.

3) Uniform Acceleration: When a body accelerates uniformly, it changes its condition or state of motion with respect to time or space while travelling at a specific speed.

Non-uniform acceleration: When an item is changing its speed, the average force acting in that direction either increases or decreases at various points.

4) Uniform Acceleration The rate at which velocity changes is known as the acceleration.

5) When both speed and direction change over time, but the average change rate is constant, uniform acceleration occurs.

6) On the other hand, non uniform acceleration denotes a change in both direction and speed over time, but a variation in the average rate of change.

7) The term uniform acceleration does not mean that there are no variations in speed with time or distance. Uniform acceleration refers to a constant rate of acceleration with variable rate, direction, and magnitude.

Summary:-

Write the Difference Between Uniform Acceleration and Non Uniform Acceleration

Non-uniform acceleration is the average force that is delivered to an object in a certain direction, whereas uniform acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.
