CAPF Exam Pattern 2023 is released by the UPSC for the Central Armed Police Forces exam, which is to be held on 06 August this year. As this is a competitive exam, the number of applicants keeps on increasing steadily every year. Understanding the paper pattern will help the candidates get familiar with the structure of the question paper, which will enable them to prepare for the exam better. All candidates appearing for the exam must go through the UPSC CAPF exam pattern for Papers 1 and 2.

CAPF Exam Pattern 2023

CAPF exam pattern 2023 is similar to that of the previous year, as no new changes are noticed with the release of notification. The UPSC CAPF Exam is held once every year to recruit suitable personnel for the Assistant Commandant post in the CAPF. According to the CAPF exam pattern, there are 2 papers to be conducted separately for all interested candidates. While Paper 1 consists of objective questions, which are asked in the form of MCQs, Paper 2 is descriptive and involves subjective writing. Candidates need to pass both papers to qualify for the next round.

The next round of the UPSC CAPF exam pattern involves a Physical Ability/Physical Efficiency Test/Medical Test. Candidates who qualify for these tests will be called for an Interview/Personality Test. The cumulative performance of all these three rounds will decide whether the candidate will be finally selected or not.

CAPF Exam Pattern for Paper 2

According to the CAPF exam pattern for Paper 2, you will get only descriptive types of questions to answer in Paper 2. It deals with General Studies, comprehension, and essays. CAPF Exam Pattern for PET

Apart from the CAPF AC exam pattern for the written test, candidates must also know about the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) that follows the written examination. Only candidates who have qualified for the written exam will be shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test in the next round. In this test, candidates will have to partake in certain physical tasks to prove their physical abilities. The following table describes the PET criteria for female and male candidates:

CAPF Exam Pattern for Interview

According to the CAPF Selection Process, qualification in the written test and PET will shortlist the candidate for the interview round. The CAPF exam pattern for this stage involves an interview and a detailed personality test. After a successful interview, the candidate will be finally shortlisted. The selected candidates will be issued a provisional Detailed Application Form (DAF), in which they will have to mention their preferences of Forces and posts they would like to join.

As per the UPSC CAPF exam pattern, the allotted marks for this test are 150. Note that the selection in the interview will not determine the final selection of the candidates. Instead, the final selection will be based on the total merit accumulated by the candidates during the exam.

  • CAPF exam pattern 2023 involves various rounds, including a Written Test, Physical Ability Test/Medical Test and Interview/Personality Test. Candidates must pass all the tests with good marks in order to be shortlisted for the subsequent selection rounds.

  • As per the CAPF exam pattern for Paper 2, you will only get descriptive-type questions. This paper deals with topics like General Studies, Comprehension, and Essays. Candidates will have to score minimum qualifying marks in order to pass the paper.

  • There is no sectional time limit in the CAPF exam pattern. Candidates can take their time to attempt the questions. However, there is a fixed time limit for Paper 1 & 2. The time allotted for paper 1 is 2 hours and the time allotted for paper 2 is 3 hours.

  • The CAPF Paper 1 exam pattern involves a total of 125 objective questions (MCQs). In this paper, candidates will have to answer questions on General Ability & Intelligence in a duration of two hours. The maximum marks awarded for this paper are 250.

  • It is important for all candidates to go through the CAPF marking scheme as it will help them attempt the questions more decisively. Find the marking scheme details below:

    • For every correct answer, 1.25 marks will be awarded in paper 1, and 33.33 marks will be awarded for paper 2.
    • No marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.
