How many Months of Current Affairs are required for Bank PO/Clerk exam?

Soon after the release of any Bank Notifications, a common question buzzes into students’ minds “How many current affairs questions are required to prepare for bank exam?” We are sure you must be having the same query.

The bank exam often comprises three stages.

For the Clerk/Assistant position the selection process is done in the following stages:

  • Prelims Exam
  • Mains Exam
  • the Language Proficiency Test & Document Verification process. 

For the PO/Officer position the selection process is done in the following stages:

  • Prelims Exam
  • Mains Exam
  • Interview 

Note: In some exams, there is a single exam followed by interviews like Canara Bank PO, BOB PO, etc.

General Awareness 

General Awareness is considered to be one of the easiest sections in Banking Exams but still, many students fail to qualify for the section. It is the one that can increase your score provided you attempt it accurately. The General Awareness section checks your updated knowledge of banking and current affairs.

The General Awareness section consists of questions from the following three topics:

  • Current Affairs – The topics include National & International Affairs, Sports, Awards, New Appointments, Govt. Schemes, Books & Authors, etc.
  • Banking Awareness – The topics include – Banking Terminology, Current Banking Awareness, News related to RBI, Banking & Financial Affairs, etc. 
  • Static GK – The topics include – National Park, Dams, River, Festivals, Currency & Capital, etc. 

How Many Months of Current Affairs Are Required for Bank Exam 2022?

Current Affairs is the part of General Awareness section. In the exam in which Prelims and Mains are conducted, the subject General Awareness is asked in only the mains phase whereas the exams conducted in a single phase consist of General Awareness subject. 

  • Every aspirant should prepare current affairs on a daily basis.
  • In the case of a two-phase exam i.e., Prelims and Mains, don’t wait for the Prelims result to start the mains preparation.
  • Focus on both exams simultaneously.

Now, whenever the notification comes, there is a gap of a minimum of 45 days between the application online date and the date of the online exam. So, you have to cover the Current Affairs from the day of notification plus one month prior to it. In total, you have to cover 5 months of current affairs for the particular exam.

Currently, upcoming bank exams are IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, IBPS RRB Mains, and IBPS SO in which the General Awareness section is asked. Let’s check out how many months of current affairs are required for these exams.
