SSC JE Exam Pattern 2022

SSC JE Exam Pattern 2022 is released by the Staff Service Commission (SSC) in its official notification. Through the SSC JE 2022 exam, candidates are appointed to the Group-’B’ posts in the Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying, and Contract domain. However, in order to be eligible for the selection, you must have good knowledge of the SSC Junior Engineer exam pattern in detail. 

SSC JE exam pattern is released for two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. SSC JE Paper 1 has only objective-type questions while Paper 2 has only descriptive or written questions. SSC JE Exam Pattern for Paper 1

SSC JE paper 1 is a tier 1 exam. Qualifying it will enable you to appear for SSC JE paper 2. Candidates can check out SSC JE paper 1 pattern below for an enhanced understanding of the exam.

  • The SSC JE Paper 1 is an online test with objective multiple-choice questions.
  • There are three parts to the SSC JE paper 1.
  • The SSC Junior Engineer general engineering paper will have questions from the engineering discipline chosen by the candidates while filling up the application form.
  • There will be 200 questions of 200 marks whereby, each question will be for 1 mark each. 
  • All the questions will be set in both English and Hindi.
  • The General Engineering discipline will have the maximum weightage, which is 100 marks.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer marked by you in the SSC JE Paper 1 online test.

SSC JE Paper 2 Pattern

Candidates obtaining the SSC JE cut off marks in Paper 1 as per their category will be appearing for SSC JE Paper 2. The SSC JE Paper 2 exam will be a written or descriptive test.

  • Only one paper will be there in SSC JE paper 2 having questions from the relevant engineering discipline.
  • Paper 2 will have questions that you will have to answer in offline mode.
  • The paper will have questions only from the core engineering branch opted by you.
  • Further, the duration of the exam will be 2 hours and the SSC JE total marks for it are 300. 
  • There will not be negative marking in the SSC JE Paper 2 exam. 
  • You can attempt SSC JE Paper 2 in either English or Hindi. However, you must not write a part paper in English or Hindi otherwise you will be awarded zero marks.

SSC JE Exam Pattern FAQs

  • SSC JE exam pattern comprises of two papers, paper 1 and paper 2. Paper 1 is objective in nature consisting of GK, Reasoning, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical papers. On the other hand, SSC JE Paper 1 shall be descriptive in nature consisting of only Civil/Electrical/Mechanical papers.

  • Yes, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 mark in SSC JE paper 1 only. There will be no negative marking in SSC JE Paper 2.

  • The SSC JE Exam has the following two papers:

    • Paper 1: Computer-based written test (CBT)
    • Paper 2: Written/Descriptive Paper
  • The SSC JE 2022 exam will be held in both English and Hindi. You can attempt the paper in the language in which you are comfortable at. 

  • The SSC JE Paper I will be an online test while paper 2 will be written test. The SSC JE tier 1 exam will have objective questions while tier 2 shall be descriptive paper. 

  • No, there is a huge difference in the SSC JE exam pattern for paper 1 and paper 2. The Paper 1 exam will have objective-type questions with GK, Reasoning as well as subject-specific paper. On the other hand, Paper 2 shall have only subject-specific questions.
