Intensity of irrigation means-

  1. Percentage of cultivable commanded area to be irrigated annually.
  2. Percentage of gross commanded area to be irrigated annually.
  3. Percentage of the mean of culturable commanded area and the gross commanded area to be irrigated annually.
  4. The total depth of water supplied by the number of waterings.

Intensity of irrigation means percentage of cultivable commanded area to be irrigated annually.

Solution

Intensity of irrigation is defined as the percentage of the total area which is irrigated for a particular duration. The yearly intensity of irrigation can be calculated by adding the intensities for all crop rotations. For eg. If the intensity of irrigation is 40% for the Rabi season and for the Kharif season is 70%.So,total intensity of irrigation is (70% + 40%)=110%.
