How to Prepare General Studies (GS) for BPSC Mains Exam 2022, Best Strategy!

In terms of determining the candidates’ rank in the final divine PDF, the BPSC mains is the most important step. General Studies, which carries a 600-point weighting, has proven to be the path to many candidates’ success. Furthermore, a clear understanding of the GS mains is extremely beneficial. As a result, one must perform admirably in the GS mains.
What is the ideal time to start BPSC GS mains preparation?
Starting BPSC Mains Preparation at a certain time is not possible. From the start of the BPSC journey, it must be incorporated and combined with prelims preparation. It is not a right approach to wait until the BPSC Prelims Exam is cleared.
Best Approach for BPSC Mains Exam
To begin, one must have a thorough understanding of the essence of the exam. The candidates must go through the syllabus several times before going through the previous year’s question papers. The majority of the questions will revolve around the keywords listed in the syllabus. However, questions are becoming more analytical with each passing year, and they require a holistic understanding of issues rather than a narrow understanding of specific issues.
So the preparation has to be this way
- Understand the syllabus and memorise it. This will assist in the interlinking of GS Documents.
- To build a solid base, read and comprehend NCERTs and other essential books.
- Daily read a newspaper (The Hindu or Indian Express) and watch issue-based debates on a daily basis (e.g. Rajya Sabha TV, LokSabha TV, All India Radio, etc.), monitor state government websites and other websites such as PIB, IDSA, etc. on a regular basis (say daily/weekly).
- On a monthly basis, read one Monthly Current Affairs compilation and Yojana magazine. BYJU’s Exam Prep provides a monthly review of Yojana (in PDF format) as well as videos.
- For Statistical Analysis, Graphs practice questions as much as possible.
- Study carefully and selectively using the syllabus keywords and previous year’s questions as a guide. Previous year’s is key understand the nature and pattern of the questions
- Concentrate on limiting resources and revising them many times.
- Internships should be used appropriately.
How to Score Good Marks?
Knowing the right material and thoroughly studying it is just half the fight. To get good marks, you’ll need to put a lot of work into applying this experience and understanding.
1.Writing Effective Answers
- It necessitates a thorough comprehension of the issue and responding in accordance with the question’s demands rather than what we already know.
- Prepare some value-added content, such as quotes, details, figures, committee recommendations, and so on, to improve the quality of your answers.
- Answering the question in a multi-dimensional way: As a result, consider both GS papers as a single GS paper and search for interconnections.
2.Practice well in order to finish on time and with good answers.
- Enroll in a GS mains test series. Give tests in a simulated mains exam environment, with the aim of finishing within the allotted time.
- Get input on your answer script that has been tested. Working on your errors will help you improve your quantity (writing more answers in a shorter period of time) and consistency of answers.
- The key is to practise, learn, develop, and practise some more.
- Take a look at the toppers’ answer.
To summarize, all you need to do to pass the mains is read, write, revise, and repeat. The above-mentioned strategy could be one of several paths to success, but only you have the power to make it a success.
